Good evening and a Happy New Year to the loyal sons of Clemson! I have a special request for one of the finest Tigers to walk the hills.
Many of the old-school folks here will remember Jim Garrett (Tigrjm), a dear friend and one of the original folks here. Some folks may also know that he's been battling esophageal cancer for a few years.
Sadly, his fight is just about over.
Jim has moved to hospice in Charleston after a lengthy battle. He's unable to type so his wife, Cat, asked me to share his news with his long-time friends here. They've set up a GoFundMe page (https: //www.gofundme.com/f/44587-a-time-of-need?) but I'd also ask if anyone has some time and inclination to drop Jim a line and let him know you're thinking about him, it would mean the world to him.

Hey, Ben! Hope all is well.
My cancer is in remission for the time being. The larger problem now is the treatment triggered a nasty auto-immune reaction that effectively fried my sense of balance and left me stone deaf. The last year has been spent learning to walk again and getting rabbit ears.
It's a rare combo, sort of like hitting the Powerball of pestilence. On the bright side, I've become real familiar with some of the best medical specialists at Duke and UNC.

Lost my youngest son last year, lost a couple more discs in my spine 3 years ago, and it has only made me more stubborn and ornery to cheat the grim reaper at every opportunity.
My wife claims my last surgeon implanted an iron rod in my backside. I kinda agree.
