All non-essential businesses will have to close. I knew it was coming. Story on The State website.

Golf is essential in some states I have read. Not sure if it will be in SC.

Agreed. Golf is huge in SC compared to many states. Does anybody know if they are closed in NC? I live in NC but right on the boarder.

I was told that Charleston county has already shut down golf courses.
Is this true?

Charlotte issued an order, but I believe the golf courses were allowed to stay open. I don’t believe there has been a statewide stay-at- home order yet in NC.

We have a statewide Stay Order here in NC but golf courses are open. Order went into effect yesterday at 5 PM I am in the office today here on outskirts of Charlotte and it looks just like yesterday. Just as many people out.

Golf is not classified as essential in Ohio, but as outdoor

recreation opportunity. Like walking your dog, running, etc.
Courses just have to follow protocols that conform to the social distancing recommendations.
Golfers need to keep their distance, one person per cart, extended times between tee times, extra cleaning/sanitizing measures of carts, no rakes in traps (use feet), just to name a few.

Same in South Carolina. One item I was not thinking about was no flag sticks. Just a pin sheet. Played Monday and it took some getting used too.

We still have pins with cup brim pulled up above the green.

Ball doesn't go in, so you won't forget to not touch the pin or have to reach into the cup.

That was genius.
Since apparently it's more dangerous for me to sit in a golf cart by myself than it is for me to go to Lowe's/Home Depot with 100 other people, I'm thinking of building a golf net and hitting platform in my backyard to make sure that I stay safe.
I'm sure it will take several trips to the store and I will have to stand in lines at the registers, but I'm a rule follower so I don't really have a choice.
Maybe I will also take a couple of trips to Walmart to start setting up a fish tank in my house since I can't go out on the boat fishing either.

Non-essential is such a relative term...

Places like Lowes and Home Depot will continue to operate as normal. People have to be able to buy washers, dryers, refrigerators, hot water heaters, and toilet parts. However, there were thousands of people in those stores last weekend who were buying things to spruce-up their yards for spring.
If you really want to stop, or at least slow the spread, a mandatory nationwide shelter in place order is the only feasible option.

You should probably live in a plastic bubble the rest of your life then. No one is wishing for the weak and vulnerable to die. It’s tragic that some people are so vulnerable, and I’m praying you don’t catch this bug, but this probably isn’t a one year thing.

Governmental fiat enforced by hysteria.
In UK private individuals are sending real-time footage to their local constabulary and media outlets to stop sunbathing, dog-walking away from home, and inessential use of the public areas.
This is how the Nanny State interprets the concepts of creativity, resourcefulness and personal responsibility: using yours to deny everyone else's, while not doing a darn thing to make the world a healthier place.
