It's a good thing tnet wasn't around during the 60's

Based on some of the stuff I've read on here today.
I'm sure quite a few of you would be posting about the evils of desegregation.
What's wrong with some of you people? Protesting is as American as you can get and I'd argue it's the highest form of being patriotic.
You keyboard warriors can send back your Nike stuff if you disagree with what's being protested, but I bet you won't go up to a protesting player and tell them to their face why you know better than them how their lives are.
Then again, based on the posts today, maybe some of you would.

Its not just a Clemson thing.
Being in SC in the 1960s would have been awful.

Clemson didn't even have a black football player until 1971, but oh yeah, I'm sure it was a whole lot of fun living here as second-class citizens!

I was in South Carolina during the 60's and it was wonderful. And I could tell you some stories, too. Don't knock it.

You do understand that the “patriotic” aspect of protesting is only when the left protests the right. Any protest to what Obama was doing would get you called a racist, hater, bigot, homophobe, etc. Protesting W. Bush? Highest form of patriotism. Protesting Trump. Ditto. But had Hillary won, any protest would be misogyny. See how it goes?

Do any of you remember the protests when Trump was elected President? Who were the protesters? Was it peaceful or was there much destruction? Were they protesting for a cause? Yes. Their candidate did not win. It wasn't a protest, it was a mob scene.

In hindsight, patriotic wasn't probably a good word to use there. I have very strong dislike for most things people on here would consider patriotic because I tend to view them more as Nationalistic than actually being patriotic.
That being said, you sure do you use a lot of bad logic in your arguments on here I've noticed over time.
Lots of ad hominem, two wrongs make a right, either or, strawman.
In this post, you're using a bad analogy. There were some legitimate reasons to protest Obama that wouldn't have been any of those isms (racism, etc.) you described. But instead of actually making an argument why you disagree with the kapernick protest, you make a strawman argument that you protesting the other side makes you somehow racist (between you and me, I think you're probably projecting a little bit ) .
My point is, if you're going to post, why not take the time to write a good argument if you disagree? I like to have my views challenged but your above post doesn't cut it.

If Kap actually cared about the values he's supposedly protesting for he wouldn't take a check from a company that is notorious for child labor and sweatshops.

protest. I have seen no indication that he has EVER been an American, except by today's definition (born here). Seems like the "left" only has one purpose in America: to protest. I'm tired of it. Which is why I no longer watch the NFL.
Go Tigers and God bless the USA.

Kneeling during the National Anthem
Sep 4, 2018, 5:34 PM
|
|
During a football game is a slap in the face to Americans, especially those who have fought and died for our country.
Peaceful protesting is American, you're correct about that part. What people like me have a problem with is putting your personal agenda (and opinions) front and center at a football game.
The time and place matters, and NFL players keeling during the National anthem falls under the "neither time nor place" category.
I'm not an "internet tuff-guy", but I'd have no problem telling an NFL player what they're doing is disgraceful, in person.
Now, I'll simply stop buying Nike becuase I don't like what they stand for. No public temper-tantrum required. Same with watching/attending NFL games, I don't bother anymore.
Suggesting that everybody who doesn't continue to support Nike, or the NFL are bigots, etc... is ignorant. I respect other people's opinions (even when I don't agree). In turn, I demand the same respect from other people (even when they don't agree with me).

You Liberals and your reasons for whining and b-itching all the time is a constant burr on the butt of society. Stop your dang whining and move on. Nobody wants to hear your continual crap. And try to figure a way to respect your country and the freedom it provides. The rest of us will be waiting on you clowns to catch up and learn to respect AMERICA.

So “liberals” are the ones whining? So it’s the liberals burning Nike stuff, whining about Nike, and whining over how they don’t want to watch the NFL over a few players taking a knee? Or is it only considered whining whenever it’s something you don’t agree with?

who think things are fractious now......that year, the US was nearly teetering on the brink of 1860; the war was dividing the country in half, college campuses were in a constant uproar and race-related riots had been burning large portions of numerous cities,.......all I can say is thank goodness for the soothing qualities of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll---the music was incredible and never since equalled
I once told an old girlfriend I'd never want to go through that period of time again. In retrospect now and with the benefit of historical distance, I still wouldn't want to do it again.

60s! Give a guy an internet connection and he can post whatever he wants, no matter how untrue. Make it salacious enough and eventually a "major news outlet" will pick it up because they want all the views, too. Trace the degree of divisiveness in the country to the number of people using the internet. It's a mess.

THIS. All day, every day, this.
There is NOTHING more patriotic or American than peaceful protest. Is America a great place? Absolutely! Could it be better, more tolerant, more equal? Absolutely.
America is great BECAUSE we are watchful to push it forward and continue to make it better for everyone.
And Nike's. Nothing is more American than Nike's. I'll go buy a pair.
