NBC Sports- Coot's job just slightly better than Maryland's

3 South Carolina
After the first two jobs, the next couple of jobs tend to fall closely together. South Carolina gets a slight nod over Maryland based on the recruiting grounds within the SEC region and the recent improvements made to the program under Steve Spurrier. Spurrier leaves the program in a better condition than when he continued to mission set forth under Lou Holtz. Holtz and Spurrier;s efforts helped build a South Carolina program that, although having gone through a few down years now, has shown potential to be a lively product. there is life in Columbia, South Carolina. Winning national titles and SEC championships may be a reach, but success can be had with the Gamecocks.

Under Armor $$$ better than SEC $$$

you don't have to share Under Armor cash.
But the writer is crazy if he thinks that Miami is the 2nd best job out there now. Their administration is clearly trying to reign in football (much the same way ours did in the 90s). Other than it being in sunny south florida, there isn't much of a draw at Da U anymore.

doesn't want the kind of athlete (and reputation) that lives in the Miami area and that used to make Da U good. I don't think high school version of Warren Sapp or Ray Lewis would be welcome on the football team anymore.
Obviously I have no inside knowledge nor do I know any big Miami boosters. Its just a aggregation of decisions. The administration was embarrassed by the Nevin Shapiro scandal, still embarrassed by the huge fight with FIU (or FAU), still embarassed by all the ESPN 30 for 30 stories etc. It looks like they want to make sure that the football program is only on the back of the sports section and not on the front page of the newspaper.

Yea that article is kinda full of BS...
Miami is not a great job anymore...
They have shown zero commitment to the program and have no fan support.

Despite the dismal history, SCar job is probably the 2nd most appealing opening ATM.

It's not in the same league as USC, but Miami is a huge mess and what's great about Maryland? The UA thing hasnt helped them a bit yet, their fan support is meh, their athletic dept is a huge mess, its a bball first school, the facilities are average, etc. The recruiting situation is even worst than at SC.

the d.c,va.,penn. area, if they could just harness it with a hard recruiting staff and a good head coach. freidgen(sp?) had them rolling pretty good for a few years.

http://auburn.247sports.com/Bolt/Muschamp-in-play-at-South-Carolina-40591939
Will Muschamp is on the list of candidates to be the next head coach at South Carolina, according to a report by GridironNow.com.
While he might not be in the top tier of candidates, don't rule out Muschamp landing in Columbia. The Gamecocks' list includes some of the hottest names in college football and it's certainly possible they could swing and miss.
An excerpt:
He is among the second-tier candidates. The top tier remains Memphis’ Justin Fuente, Houston’s Yom Herman and Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. Those are the top three names insiders heard on the night that news of Steve Spurrier’s resignation broke, and they remain the top three names.
Fuente and Herman figure to be the top candidates for a number of job openings, though, and that could be making South Carolina officials a bit uneasy. Hence the development of a second tier of candidates that likely is rather large.

Marylands Recruiting Class Says Otherwise

South Carolina is going to be a train wreck trying to recruit. Maryland's recruiting class coming up is stacked, and seems to be sticking together even in the face of the coaching change. Only an idiot would think the USUC job is better at this time then Maryland.

USuCk will throw money at the top names, even though they have a massive debt, but the potential candidate must look at where he is going. There is no positive football history there in over 100 years. You have Holtz and Spurrier who could not get over the hump. Wins but nothing else to show. It is not a good job for your resume.
