After seeing the Martin Jenkins INT return replay

Sep 9, 2013, 5:12 PM

I wouldn't mind seeing him replace Bryant on KO returns. He had some good moves.

I thought the same thing on Sat.***

I hadn't thought of that - good idea. My choice has been HotRod, but that probably won't happen either.

I prefer someone on KR's to be able to have great moves, rather than being able to outrun people. That's also the reason I hate to see Sammy Watkins on KR or PR. I prefer AH on PR's due to his great hands (and concentration I guess).

I think he definitely has the skillset to return kicks,

but I don't think we want to risk an injury at the CB position. Jenkins has already missed a year and had a separated shoulder, so I think it's safe to say durability is a question with him. Returning kicks is typically one of the most dangerous plays in football from an injury standpoint.

I think whoever is returning kicks basically just needs to be able to hold on to the ball. Our offense is good enough that we don't really need to rely on the return game to get us points. But if we were more desperate for offense, I agree that Jenkins would be a good choice.

If that's the reason not use him then Sammy doesn't need to be back there either. I'd say he's jsut as if not more important not to lose.

this thread is odd, because he was returning punts on Saturday after the pick 6.

He read his blocks very well, and the D scramble down field

to open things up. Great play.

Very, Very Excited. Very, Very Proud.

I've been wondering why we haven't used Sammy more

Sep 10, 2013, 3:19 PM

for KO returns. I understand not putting him back there for punts because that was the 2nd time he's muffed one (Maryland '11), and it's more important to get someone reliable back there to field them, but that's not really an issue on KOs.

I saw him back there once or twice against UGA, but it seemed like they pulled all of his return duties after the muffed punt.
