Mange type post...Here is why Watson wins the Heisman.

Dec 9, 2015, 10:11 AM

Ultimately I don't care about this award. It has grown into some kind of deformed popularity contest. But with that said, Deshaun deserves it and here is why he will win.

Deshaun is the most outstanding player this year. What other player is getting two covers on SI Mag? Over the past couple days more and more sports writers, television networks, and radio hosts have openly stated that they believe Watson is the front runner. Even one Heisman winner has openly cast his vote for Watson. If nothing else he is standing out and he is exhibiting integrity. (He has a good image.)

Statistically speaking he has the numbers. This season Watson has completed nearly 70% of his passes for 3512 yards and 30 tds. He has rushed for 887 yards and 11 tds. And let's not forget the punt for 23 yards. To say the least he is qualified.

But why I think he has the advantage, has to do with the voters human tendencies. Clemson has never had a Heisman winner. Bama has 1 in Mark Ingram (Was kind of surprised with only 1). And Stanford has 1 in Jim Plunkett. Now this doesn't mean he is a shoe in, but how many voters don't have a clear cut winner in mind. If they see all candidates as even, it is completely possible that they go with the school who hasn't had a winner. Also they've already shown a tendency to vote for quarter backs. While it's not the true meaning of the Heisman trophy, so many times we hear it said that the Heisman goes to the best player on the best team. That is Deshuan Watson.

We don't know how the vote total will turnout, but I am starting to like his chances. DW 4 Heisman!

Not yet. But I tagged it in my notes

Dec 9, 2015, 10:22 AM

And plan on giving it a look when I have some time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope you are right in that ESPN still says Henry

Dec 9, 2015, 10:26 AM

because they have a small section of voters who all toe the line.

Some of their employees said that DW should win it and that

Dec 9, 2015, 11:33 AM

Henry should not.

Wonder if they've been fired yet?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They are next to go.

Dec 9, 2015, 12:19 PM

I am just going by the claimed survey of those with votes.

Here's why he doesn't

.

I think you are wrong. I think the bias is equal, but

Dec 9, 2015, 10:29 AM

opposite.

I felt the same way yesterday morning.

What changed my opinion was the internet. Googled Heisman and more and more articles show up naming Watson as the leader. Googled Watson same stories appear. Many sports writers get a vote... The internet is where you find sports writers these days. ESecPN can plug all they want, but I am starting to think the whole country is rooting for the underdog. The SEC has become THE Cowboys, THE Yankees, THE Lakers... They're not that great anymore, yet they're all we hear about, and now the whole country is sick of it. For all voters with normal human tendencies, the vote goes anti SEC. Watson is the next "leader". I think he gets the win. This is a complete 360* + 180* for me. But I like his chances.

I have them feels too.***

Dec 9, 2015, 11:39 AM

Ballots weren't due until Monday per Heisman.com

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That sounds like a Corso endorsement.

Dec 9, 2015, 11:47 AM

If that's the case Watson stands no chance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

any chance that the RB vote being split between 2 RBs helps?

Dec 9, 2015, 11:41 AM

kinda like one party having 2 decent offerings, and they screw themselves over?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One way to look at it is

Dec 9, 2015, 12:20 PM

Without Henry, Bama is still in the playoffs probably.

Without Watson, I don't see Clemson 13-0 and in the final 4

Corporations are people. So is Soylent Green.

Not sure Henry should be penalized because his team

Dec 9, 2015, 12:22 PM

has more depth.

The award is for Most Outstanding, not Most Valuable.

That said, I still say #### bama and henry and the stanford white guy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Someone in the mange just posted that DW4 has more rushing tds than mcaffery...

Dec 9, 2015, 12:24 PM

I haven't had time to confirm, but it pleased me enough to repeat here.

Post ######: Confirmed. He has 8 and DW4 has 11.

They knock on Henry, which may still not be fair,

Dec 9, 2015, 12:33 PM [ in reply to Not sure Henry should be penalized because his team ]

is that Bama has a running back put up big numbers most every year.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Only cause the Shuess wasn't getting first team practice reps.

Dec 9, 2015, 12:22 PM [ in reply to One way to look at it is ]

Never mind, I can't even pretend. Thank goodness we had DW4.
