A non-sports but non-Coronavirus post

Apr 7, 2020, 2:47 AM

Was sitting on my back porch enjoying the beautiful day, filling my bird feeders, and drinking a frosted barley pop when I got to thinking about bands/performers I would have loved to see in concert. Came up with a top 5. Wasn’t easy.

1. AC/DC
2. Stevie Ray Vaughn
3. Lynyrd Skynyrd
4. The Allman Brothers
5. Led Zeppelin

Those are 5 good ones. I would add The Eagles.

This! I think they are my all time favorite.

I got to see them in Chalotte, 1995.

We parked beside Rick Flair and his "niece".

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Flair needs to be a Tiger fan, but, I like his persona in his realm. He definitely needs to be a Clemson Tiger! He's too macho to be a coot protege.

2000. I was lucky enough to see them on the Hell Freezes Over Tour. Paid out the nose for center stage 6th row tickets as a young Marine. Hardee’s Walnut Creek Amphitheater on a warm summer night. Absolutely the BEST concert I’ve ever been to.

If you are a fan of the Eagles you should really pick up

Apr 7, 2020, 4:44 PM [ in reply to Re: A non-sports but non-Coronavirus post ]

Don Felders book "Heaven and Hel1: My Life in the Eagles (1974-2001)". Felder was the lead guitarist (along with Joe Walsh) during the height of their popularity. He spills the beans on Glen Frey and Don Henley who ran rough shot over everyone else in the band and were control freaks. The Eagles were basically a dysfunctional band constantly arguing and in turmoil - but good gracious those boys could sure write songs and play some music.

I watched the Documentary on Netflix. Pretty good. I might have to pick up that book on Kindle since I am out of reading material and rereading stuff in my library I haven’t read in a while.

Got to see them on their “Hell Freezes Over” tour in ...

Greenville. One of the best concerts I have been to. Just music and no hype.

However, a friend who worked backstage at the concert said every one of them were very pompous and demanding.

Doors and Hendrix are great picks, but both done by the time I was 1.

the best concerts on the weekend in between exam weeks. So, since my Chem E exams were almost invariably on Monday thru Wed of the second week, I could not take time away from my cramming to waste a night at a concert. I missed out on a Hall of Fame lineup. Just off the top of my head, I can think of:

Deep Purple
Moody Blues
Chicago
Pink Floyd
Marshall Tucker Band
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Fleetwood Mac
Foreigner
Jethro Tull
Allman Brothers Band
James Taylor

I doubt there has ever been a stronger line-up at Littlejohn

Apr 7, 2020, 4:22 PM

than in my years of 69-72,,,Ike & Tina Turner, Allman Brothers(twice), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker(twice), Rod Stewart, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Chicago, Chuck Berry(Tucker & Skynyrd BOTH were his opening acts!), James Gang(a great opening act, Goose Creek Symphony). And others a can't remember right now.

I do wish I had seen Led Zep, Beatles, Stones and Derek & the Dominoes(Eric Clapton AND Duane Allman!)

I have seen so many concerts.

U2, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Rush, Tom Petty, and 100's if others. My favorite concert was Ray Charles though. It was cool because there were round tables, small crowd, with a symphony, and there were waitresses serving us drinks. I didn't want to go see him. I am glad I went. Ray Charles was the best for me.
