Louisville played NCST about the same way we did

Oct 22, 2016, 3:40 PM

The Pups moved the ball a little more in the 4th on us but the total yards are about the same.
We had almost 500 yards of O Louisville just over 500.
The only difference is the Cards put it in the endzone we fumbled it back to NCST.

That's a pretty big difference.

Statistically fumbles are generally proven to be pretty random 3 fumbles in the redzone was essentially lighting striking twice.

When we have 9 turnovers in 2 weeks, (6 of which were in the red zone), one could argue that randomness has nothing to do with it.

Specifically fumbles. We obviously need to take steps to correct a trend. Statistically the KO on Gallman, the strip on a third stringer and a blind side hit on a guy fighting for yards are just as likely to not happen as they are likely to play out just like they did. There just isn't much to indicate that more training would have prevented any of them. They just all happened in the same game at in the red zone and affected the game to be far outside expected margins for error.

Louisville didn't let State's offense do squat in the first half. I think they had negative yardage after their first 4 drives. Louisville set the tone and established the pace of play... we never did that. We got into a slow, plodding, sloppy game that only resulted in 10 possessions for our offense. That was exactly what State wanted. It didn't happen at all with Louisville today. They forced quick 3 and outs on defense and moved the ball quickly on offense. They got 9 possessions in the first half alone - exactly the kind of game Louisville wanted.
