I learned a version back in '66 when we used to pick on the loggia above the Dining Hall.

Very cool -- would be 10x better without the drums.

Dec 23, 2015, 4:27 PM

Just let the banjo sing, bro.

“Clemson wasn’t that much better with Trevor Lawrence, if at all.”

I believe you are right. I made another version without the drums at this link. Please share with your friends if you like. Merry Christmas!!

Excellent work. I love it. I do like it a lot better without the drums.

Drums way overrated for getting that dance beat going. The boys danced it up mighty nice with just the banjo!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was pretty good,

Dec 23, 2015, 5:00 PM

but sounded more like the intro to The Beverly Hillbillies!

I like the banjo sound, but every time I hear a banjo it sounds like the Beverly Hillbillies theme.

Banjo is racist, I need my safe space

The banjo is originally from Africa.

Your comment is a perfect observation on the idjits that are peddling all this political correctnes and social justice tripe. They have no perspective or understanding of history. Just feelings.

With all his success, his highest salary was $25,000 a year. The president of the university, Dr. R. F. Poole, feared that professors who earned less would be upset. "He called me up and said that he didn't want me to tell anybody what I made," Howard once said. "I said: 'Doc, you don't have to worry. I'm as ashamed as you are of what you pay me.' learned to play many years ago.got as far as cripple creek, then life stepped in and there was no time to practice,so the banjo was put on the back burner.for good it seems.anybody remember back to '64-'68?there was a guy from nc named isenhour(correct spelling)played fantastic banjo on the loggia from time to time.what a talent.would give professionals a good run.if anyone is interested,go on you tube and listen to a group called the bluegrass diamonds-out of canada.very good.interesting french canadian twist on the genre.also if anyone is into fiddling, listen to susanna heystek.young prodigy with a violin.bluegrass, classical, you name it.

As a musician (not a banjo player or drummer) I have to say

Dec 24, 2015, 1:20 AM

That was subpar. Charles Wood is a Clemson alum and a national champion banjo player that has played with Earl Scruggs and Steve Martin (Steve is a big fan of his). If we want to promote the banjo that is where we should go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrlqQ1_vZVE
Charles is the "young" guy in the middle that plays after Paul butchers the piano part.

Louis Armstrong.... better version
