Looking at the Depth Charts and....

Nov 1, 2016, 9:23 AM

Man is Syracuse a young team. Only 2 SRs in starting 22, and both on Offense. Lots of Freshman (some redshirts) and Sophomores. I almost feel bad for these young pups as they have no idea what they are walking in to.

Those boys can score though. I am sure BV has a great plan but we have to watch out for Etta-Towa if we go man. Dude is a beast. I would keep 2 safeties up top and make them have to run it.

I keep hearing / reading this....."They can really score"...

Here are their points in prior games.

33 against Colgate ---- who cares
28 on Louisville ---- down 21-0 early
20 on USF - scored first 17 points all in 1st Qtr then only a FG in last 3 Qtrs
31 on UCONN ---- talking UConn?!?!
33 on ND --- It's ND! ND is like the high school prom, everyone scores!
9 on Wake --- probably the best D they'd seen since Louisville
31 on VT --- this one looks the most impressive on paper, but it's the only one
28 on BC --- a decent BC D, but not up to Clemson levels at all

I'm sorry, I'm just not going to be scared about their "high scoring" or "potent" offense against our D. We have talent and depth. They won't score more than 28 on us, and I doubt they get in the 20's unless they get a ST of D score.

And I'll add, while I think the spread may be on the high

end, I can easily understand how it can happen. Syracuse runs fast tempo. The negative to that is if we can force some 3 and outs. A posted in a different thread that our game plan should be to run the ball and sustained drives tiring out their D. We SHOULD be able to run on them.

If we can have long drives tiring out their D, while also forcing some 3 and outs in the first half, their D is toast! Going back to the initial post, they are young, which also typically means not deep. If we roll this game plan and have success, the second half is where it could get ugly. Our 2nd and 3rd team players trying to prove something against a tired Syracuse D. That's how you cover the 28!

GO TIGERS!
