Marshall was in the Southern Conference, Div. I-AA, when they went 15-0. I don't think that exactly qualifies them to be mentioned in the same sentence with Clemson.

In 1999 Marshall went 13-0. T H I R T E E N and zero loses in Pruetts third season as coach. (They went 10-3 his first season). Close but no cigar.

That reference skips from 1981 season to 1997 season. Pruett was the coach in 1996 in his first season there.

I will give Marshall credit... The Coots OF Cootlubia were scare to play them so some of this checks out.

And I am sure a few DIII have done this too. Mount Union almost did it back to back I think, if they did not do it in previous years.

I give the DIII folks more credit than any 1-AA program.
