What everyone seems to be forgetting

Aug 5, 2013, 7:27 PM

All of the pundits, "experts", Coots, Clemson naysayers, Dawg trolls, etc...ALL keep saying how awrsome Jawja's offense is

But do ANY of these idiots realize that Jawja's DEFENSE still has to try and stop CLEMSON's OFFENSE??

Jawja's pre-season ranking is based SOLELY on a decent QB and a much hyped offense.

There is another offense that will be playing in the SAME GAME as Jawja. Clemson's offense is just as good folks. Every bit as good.

We hung 37 on FSU last year, and their defense along with LSU was better than Jawja with its starters in tact. They replace eight starters and one is suspended.

Hello?? Anybody home??

Go Tigers!!!

you would think we were not favored in this game

Aug 5, 2013, 7:39 PM

You are all over it, but we won't get the kudos we deserve. Just like we didn't get any respect prior to the LSU game and not a lot of hype about it afterwards. We just need to play our game, and all will see. At the end of the day, we will be just fine. I believe we will be very special, and the world will see for itself.

Clemson scoring on uGAY won't surprise anybody.

Aug 5, 2013, 7:57 PM

What will make them blush with embarrassment is Clemson's defense.

uGAY 21

Aug 5, 2013, 8:35 PM [ in reply to Clemson scoring on uGAY won't surprise anybody. ]

How is Clemson planning on scoring 42 without a decent running game to take the pressure off Boyd and the offensive line?

Hot Rod McDowell will serve us just fine!!

Mark it down Coot!!

Who says we won't have a decent running game!?....

Aug 5, 2013, 8:44 PM [ in reply to Re: Clemson scoring on uGAY won't surprise anybody. ]

We return an experienced offensive line and a running back who averaged over 5 yards a carry last year. Not to mention our offense uses a lot of QB runs and incorporates WR's in our running game as well.

We have athletes all over the offensive side of the ball and they will all contribute to an effective running game.

That answer your question?!

Re: Who says we won't have a decent running game!?....

Aug 5, 2013, 8:59 PM

Well I don't see it happening! Sorry!!! And I am not a frigging coot!

Aug 5, 2013, 9:27 PM [ in reply to Re: Who says we won't have a decent running game!?.... ]

that much is obvious, but just because you don't "see it happening" doesn't give me any facts to back up your claim.

Re: I know you're not a coot, you're a Leg Humper....

Aug 5, 2013, 10:46 PM

I didn't mean it the way that sounded, what meant in my post was if Clemson doesn't come up with a decent running game I don't see them scoring no 40 points.

Re: I know you're not a coot, you're a Leg Humper....

Buffalo ran for 200+ last year in Athens...I think we might have a "decent" running game.

Problem is our front seven stopping the run

Aug 5, 2013, 8:42 PM

And I just don't see it. That's how you beat us let's face it. I hope I am eating crow after the game (obviously).

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Our front seven had a hard time stopping running QB's....

Aug 5, 2013, 8:46 PM

not running backs. Fortunately Murray only runs if he thinks his life is in danger.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Problem is our front seven stopping the run

Aug 5, 2013, 8:59 PM [ in reply to Problem is our front seven stopping the run ]

LSU had 25 rushes for 99 yards. One rush was 57 yards.

Murray has not exhibited a great ability to run.

We have everyone back but Goodman and Willard.

We stopped LSU - I'm not sure why you don't see at least a possibility of stopping their rush.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To be more specific ....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:13 PM

Jeremy Hill, the only RB Clemson faced with a talent level anywhere near Gurley, rushed 12 times for 124 yards and 2 scores.

Gurley is more talented, has a better OL, and has a QB that can actually complete a forward pass. The UGA running game will have a field day.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lets not get carried away with misleading stats....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:32 PM

he had one big run for 57 yards, you take that away and he only had 67 yards. "Gurley has a better oline" that's debatable at best and probably down right false.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So that run doesn't count?

Aug 5, 2013, 9:38 PM

Sorry, but they all count. Clemson's achillies heel last year was the big play, and that 50-some yard run is just an example of the problem. It happened, therefore it counts.

And, yes, UGA's OL is better than LSUs. They were starting two FR and none of the guys who graduated were drafted. They weren't that good, and it showed against Clemson. UGA's OL will do a much better job at both opening holes and protecting Murray.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And .....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:40 PM [ in reply to Lets not get carried away with misleading stats.... ]

Even if you don't count that long run, 67 yards on 11 carries is still averaging 6.1 yards per carry. That is nothing for a D to brag about.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: And .....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:43 PM

Well do they all count or don't they?

If they all count - LSU had 99 yards rushing.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

null

Yep

Aug 5, 2013, 9:48 PM

But the RB closest to Gurley's talent level had 127. It's reasonable to try and isolate the individual performances in order to get a better overall feel for how things may play out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yep

Aug 6, 2013, 2:30 AM

So basically what I'm getting is y'all win because of Gurley.

No reason to worry about losing over half your defense, which wasn't that good anyways.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: To be more specific ....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:40 PM [ in reply to To be more specific .... ]

What would you consider a field day?

The minimum stats - yards passing, rushing and score?

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

null

Re: To be more specific ....

Aug 5, 2013, 9:44 PM

For a single RB, anything above 150 is a "field day". For a team running game, I'd put it at 200.

Passing would be over 300 and total score would be over 40 for field day status.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I could see Gurley

Aug 5, 2013, 9:57 PM

Go for 100+....... Still doesnt guarantee a win. We see how good Granthan really is. Bottom line...... Y'all got a bunch young bucks on D and frankly half the stadiums in the SEC are weaker than ours from a atmosphere standpoint....... They will poop themselves..... Good luck!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: To be more specific ....

Aug 5, 2013, 10:17 PM [ in reply to Re: To be more specific .... ]

So you can theoretically have a field day and lose, but you think over 40 points and 200 yards rushing and 400 yards passing for UGA, correct?

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

null

Re: To be more specific ....

Aug 5, 2013, 10:22 PM

More like 350 if you're pressing me.

And yes, theoretically speaking, the offense could have a field day and still lose the game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

See, we weren't that far apart. I had GA at 250-275 passing

Aug 5, 2013, 10:40 PM

and around 150-160 rushing; Clemson at 450-500 passing and around 100-120 rushing.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Way too high on Clemson's numbers.

Re: What everyone seems to be forgetting

Maybe I'm crazy maybe I got my orange goggles on but I really think Clemson defense going to be a lot better than last year I think that's going to play a big part in the game d line going to better and deeper lbs should be much improved and the dbs going tbetter with blanks moving to safety and everyone back healthy

stronger faster D, and watched LSU game, they will not be surprised at outstanding game against Gawja - 45-24!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What everyone seems to be forgetting

Aug 6, 2013, 1:20 AM

I feel like this game is going to come down to which defense can make the last stop. In that situation I'll take Clemson's somewhat experienced defense over Georgia's.
