Independent play who we want when we want where we want. I know money would be problem but we could figure something out.

Raise them a littleand when you could have Texas or ND, Florida, Michigan any given week people would pay.

Being a "true clemson fan" doesnt mean you could afford to pay DOUBLE for tickets, I stuggle as it is to attend a few games a year. I would certainly try and budget to attend the games BUT to double in price is out of the question.

budget and see how much money comes from the conference. Only schools that have a national brand like ND or Texas for example could go on their own.

key word "worked."

in the 80's - 90's, there were enough independents to play each other...like their own conference. Traditional powers resided as independents making them the SEC of yesteryear. And scheduling wasn't a problem.

Today, being independent is mostly a transitioning place for schools switching conferences. Most schools are now in a conference because they need conference money. Not to mention, you'd have a hard time putting a schedule together, unless you were a national brand like the 4 remianing independents, who don't need conference money.

ND - They have an exclusive TV contract
Army and Navy - funded by the federal govenment
BYU - funded by the morman population
