Path for Clemson National Championship
Nov 18, 2013, 9:13 AM
|
|
It goes through USC. All the teams ahead of us, except FSU could all lose. Baylor has multiple chances. OSU still must play Michigan State. Auburn gets beat by Bama. And, Oregon could easily lose in the championship game. Here where it is interesting. We beat USC and then they (most likely SEC East Champs) beat Bama in SEC Championship game. This sets up a rematch of Clemson and FSU. It is NOT out of the question. Fingers Crossed!!!

at after Bama thrashes Auburn. Bama isn't losing their chump game this week or the SEC Championship. FSU is going to stomp their chump game and UF. And Michigan is no match for Ohio St. Oregon is through losing and Oklahoma St. next week is the last legitimate challenge for Baylor. That leaves us really nowhere to go even with a win over the Coots except passing Auburn.

lose the PAC12 CG. USC or UCLA could do it. Mich St could beat Ohio St. I just don't see us getting past Bama, even if they lost to Aub. But the wailing and gnashing of teeth would hit record decibels if the stars aligned and we were sitting at #2.

It would be unbelievable to be sitting at number 2 when the smoke cleared after a chaotic weekend or two of upsets and craziness.

Clemson wants no part of the top 5
just not quite there yet with defense and o line
Just accept a top 10 finish and try again
Had the chance against FSU and blew it. Not necessarily a poorly played game, more of an out played game
Who wouldn't take a top 10 finish and a win over USC

You couldn't possibly non-objectively say that Clemson
Nov 18, 2013, 9:28 AM

was simply outplayed against FSU. We were outplayed for sure, but Clemson did not show up. It was a combination of those two things that lead to the curb-stomping. Take your garnet glasses and your Clemson handle disguise off.

I would say we did show up, and if not for Tajh's INT late
Nov 18, 2013, 9:32 AM
|

in the second quarter, were on our way to being firmly back in that game with a whole new lease on life heading into the second half. The INT and subsequent drive down field that resulted in an FSU field goal just seemed to finish our guys off and the second half was a disaster.

No Clemson wants all we can get. Tigernet wants you to take your lame ### dirtpecking self back to FGF. I can't for the life of me understand why you idiot chickens come to our board. I don't set foot on any coot or rival boards for that matter. Guess you guys truly are the dumbest fan base in the world bar none. By the way your coots can't even sniff the top 5 so get over it loser boy.

The only reason bama got a rematch was because they lost by 3. No way the human voters are going to vote Clemson in for a rematch.

rematch. I also don't think we deserve a rematch unless all teams in front of us lose to bad teams (although I wouldn't argue against it if ESPN pushed for it...). My comment was merely directed at the coot in tiger's clothing who thinks that Clemson couldn't compete with the top 5, so carry on.

Look men, there is a reason Tajh's stats are embarrassing against FSU this year and USC the past 4 years, a decent D gets him rattled, a decent D can stop this Offense due to a weaker O line and a QB with no time getting rattled and not getting it to the best playmakers in the nation
It isn't Clemson had an off night, FSU brought it and Clemson couldn't contain it
It happens, in basketball lots of times you get a 2nd shot at them but in football every loss counts
Pretty naive to sit back and say we played poorly when looking at the stats, they pressured and controlled both lines of scrimmage and it wasn;t even close
That equals win every time and usually proves the better team

The turnovers were the key. They did not dominate the LOS.

GT has a decent defense, does it not? That's what I heard all week long, anyway. Thin secondary, yes, but very strong up front. They didn't seem to get in Tajh's head much.

Did you see how poorly Bama played against MSU on Saturday?

Alabama is not infallible and performances like that certainly open the door for would-be upset minded opponents.
That said, Alabama would have an awful lot riding on the outcome of the SECCG and on that basis alone I would expect Bama to curb stomp whichever team from the $EC Least they end up playing.

how to beat Bama and Nicki knows he knows. AU has a bye week so they've got nothing but bama to attend to, not that Chattanooga is going to get much attention from Bama. Just the same, AU doesn't have any distractions.

Not every Sat. or 5/5 Saturday's. But 2/10. Especially with the pressure to win building exponentially on guys who've never experienced such pressure.
