I'm just hoping for 2 more years. If everything stays in tact, we could be looking at a MNC in 2013. After that, I'm just hoping someone else on this staff has learned Morris's offense by then. (Dabo, Jeff Scott, etc.)

learning an offense....

and being a natural play caller with the ability to read the DC mind are two different things. I just don't think that Dabo & Jeff have that natural talent.

...I don't buy it. Morris learned the system from Malzahn. Someone else can learn it to if they are committed.

I think that maybe you could be under estimating Jeff Scott. His whole life has been involved in FB. With Brad being his father, Jeff has grown up around some really good FB minds. Add that he is young striving to make his own mark in college coaching. Jeff has taken his hard knocks that young coaches usually do, and has learn from them. I was listening to some coach on a coot talk sports radio. Anyway, this coach was saying that he had had a long conversation with Jeff at this coaching get together outing. This X coach said that coming away after talking with Jeff, that he was very impressed of the pure FB knowledge that Jeff Scott has. You would have to of heard the whole conversation on the radio to finally feel at ease with Jeff Scott as a coach on our staff. He is young, eager, smart, and has had his life time of FB. He could very well be our next OC after Chad Morris. I'm sure he is learning everything he can from Chad, being that they work so close together....

The critical element here is the buyout

I've heard that the buyout is 2 million for either side to get out of the contract. It's hard to imagine that this is accurate, but if so, it probably works out to be a great deal for Clemson! Unless we tank it next year with a very suboptimal offensive line, this offense probably again hits 400+ yards pg. If so, Morris is likely gone so we only end up paying it for one year plus we get the hefty buyout. The other possibility is that the lofty salary really entices him to stay for a couple years beyond what he otherwise would. This would be critical for Dabo's long-term success as we all know that Bowden never knew quite the success that he would have had if RR had stayed longer. With a big buy-out this is nothing but a win-win for Clemson!

Highly unlikely, but that's one angle you didn't look at.
I think it's awesome that we finally went deep into our pockets and "paid the man".
