Let's get something straight

May 10, 2019, 10:08 AM

Or at least come to some accepted understanding before we make another 100 posts about chris Steele.

As I understand it, dabo never made a RULE about recruiting transfers. So let's just call it , a guidance policy.

From what I read, Dabo's guidance policy is that he prefers not to take transfers because he would rather have a player in his program for more than 1 or 2 years.

He also stated he looks for kids who will fit in with the clemson culture.

So these 2 things are the primary factors when discussing recruits and transfers.

Plain and simple, there is no rule against taking transfers, he just doesn't take them often. Kellen Jones transferred from OU after Venables came....David Olsen transferred from Stanford, Nick Scheussler transferred from Miss St.

The Steele situation would be completely different because he has 4 years of eligibility left.

Good point GeeVille,
I’ve always heard the transfer discussion in the context of Juco‘s. I think the Steele situation is a different category altogether.

All very good points.

The transfers listed in this thread were not recent and with the exception of Coach V bringing a LB, basically came in to be backups.

My guess is that the staff has already recruited over Steele with Fred Davis who is more highly rated and with the switch of Kendrick to CB at least part time. Add in Booth as well.

All three of those players were more highly rated than Steele I believe. (Maybe not by all services)

Dabo may really like the kid and might would love to have him but my expectation is that Clemson doesn't really pursue due to the incoming or current players at his position.

I do hope the kid finds a good place to play because he seems like he is doing the right thing and is making a choice based on his morals.

It's really about the promises he made to to Booth and

Jones as far as number go. If Steele would count against that class, I believe he would not be pursued as a recruit. If he is not immediately able to play, then that would make him a recruit for the class this year.
