Exactly my thoughts. The Louisville could take notes from the VT AD on crisis communications.

VT - This is wrong, unacceptable and not how we roll. We will figure out what happened and tell you immediately.
vs
Loserville - Yeah that happened but so what...it's not like the plays were even used during the game.

Tell that to the ACC. VT had a responsibility to report it.

Anybody that took game plans and did not report the offer of game plans is also a real villain. Wrong is wrong in all those levels.

Strike one - missed the nuance! The key word is "took" ...

in your presumption. What about just "contacted"?
Would you find fault with a guy that just says "No thanks - not interested" and moves on with their job responsibilities? What if the guy contacted is a friend and says "No man that's F'ed up Elrod. Get your head screwed on straight before you lose your job."
If a co-worker showed you an inappropriate web site or e-mail, you would ALWAYS report it to HR knowing it might get that co-workerfired? If a friend cheated on their taxes would you report it to the IRS?
When you drive over the speed limit which is criminal, do you mail in a fine with a note that says you are sorry?

Missed the nuance. No one just took a call...they used the information. Read the article completely.

When mud or other substances get thrown around it can land on anyone. I am confident our staff would not knowingly or proactively use this type of information. But - all it takes is an email from the knucklehead formerly at WF to one of our assistants or whatever….and we could get dragged into the mud. I would hope in Dabo system, anything like this would get reported to the ACC immediately.
