ACC defenses

Dec 29, 2014, 11:35 PM

We can all acknowledge that Stoudt had his challenges this season, but I began to wonder whether the ACCs defensive units were not, perhaps, much more competitive than recognized. Louisville clearly has a great unit, but we had several teams we were very relieved to leave without suffering a loss. Now, looking at the bowl games, only UNC appeared to have been overmatched with the others being very competitive. So, are we seeing the ACC as having become much more competitive or am I just making things up?

'think you are correct.
So many have bad mouthed the conference, they
just automatically believe it...well, "the other
team just wasnt' that good".
Things have gotten a little more competitive. Just like
Va Tech's win over Ohio State, BC's win over
USC, etc. 'Heard the same on those games.
It will be interesting to watch
Louisville & Ga tomorrow. Both are 9-3.
I think teams overall have gotten better. Years
ago, there was a huge difference between the
Top10 and the rest. Now, on any given day, you
can have an unranked team come in and win. I think
the conditioning/nutrition has helped so many teams.
IMO, Years ago, that may have been a defining factor.
GO TIGERS!!!

Give it 3 years

Clemson is about to take the final step to be a real contender for the playoff. Couple that with FSU maintaining success and State and Louisville fast risers, and the Atlantic will be the best division in CFB in roughly 3 years, and we will be standing on top of the dog pile. I actually have FSU beating tOSU for the championship.

FSU hasn't looked impressive all year, but I am beginning to believe the competition may be just that good. I have a bias against teams from the west coast and believe Oregon benefits from little competition. This may be entirely unfair, but if my opinion regarding both west coast teams and the level of competition in the ACC, GSU may deliver a lopsided victory. I will add that the Louisville defense was the most impressive I have seen this year. We weren't playing our best offense, but those guys were tough.
