Less then 100% Lawson or a healthy Austin Bryant

Jan 8, 2016, 9:16 AM

Who would be more effective in this game. A less then 100% Lawson or a healthy Austin Bryant. Im sure both will play. But I question how healthy lawson is and how effective he will be. In this game. What's everyones thoughts on this?
Either way Clemson rolls.

Let's just keep Shaq's status low key until the game starts.

Not knowing how Lawson is actually doing

I would go with the backup if he's not at least 85-90%. The way we run that position on our defense, it's hard to be effective if you're not healthy.

I's bet my last dollar that Lawson is going to play, at least some.

I'm sure he will. It may be limited to certain

situations. But you have to think about it from his perspective too. If he goes out there and this sprain turns into a tear, and he's entering the NFL, that is a lot different than if he's coming back with a year to rehab it, etc. Watson tweaked his knee, kept playing, and finally it tore, and he still kept playing. BUT Watson had an entire offseason and a year to recover, etc.

You'll see them both is my bet. Shaq will not be denied this opportunity. Thankfully, Austin got quality reps against OU.

I think Shaq starts. His snaps will be limited more than usual though. And I think and trust in Venables and Hobby to pull him if he is obviously struggling.

Austin may play most but Lawson will be there to help out. They will both help so no one gets too tired.

If we were playing a mobile QB (like UNCheat) I would be a little worried about Bryant. He struggles with containment. Luckily that's not the case. He has done a good job with the run and he has a high motor on the pass rush. I think you'll see Bryant on 1st and 2nd down and Lawson on 3rd and long.
