Less With More Award Goes To? Mich,GA,FSU,PSU

Look at the attached. In the year, change it to reveal the top classes by 247 over the last few years. You will notice a few teams who are always seemingly in the top 10. Out of those teams who has done less with all that talent?

My vote is Georgia! With Michigan coming in a whisker hair 2nd! Nobody is immune from having bad performances; I get that. But, to have a talent gap like they enjoy year after year and still not be able to come close to winning it all is disappointing. Georgia got to the championship and got beaten by a back up QB. Yeah, a really good back up. But, prior to that season, they have really stunk it up as far as using the great players they collect in recruiting. Same with Michigan. They can't come close to beating OSU. They have all that people say you need to win. Big time coach - check. Big time facilities - check. Enthusiastic fan base - check. Great recruiting - check. So, what's the problem?

The cumulative class ranking for Clemson has been outside the top for each of the two championships we have won recently! This most recent class will change that cumulative( 4 - 5 year average class rank) to be inside the top 10. But, Clemson has done more with "less than some blue bloods"! Clemson gets it's share of 4 and 5 star(prior to this season speaking). But, we have done a great job of development. Who gets the award for doing less - with more(or at least better recruits)?

Texas and Texas A&M

By a lot. All their resources and talent they bring in and they get nowhere close to being nationally relevant in recent years.

Texas and Texas A&M - get overvalued players

Dec 23, 2019, 7:12 AM

Texas H.S. football is great for people who like the big stadium. Whole town vested and following thing. Which is great. But, big schools and big stadiums and huge(small college like) followings does not make great football players necessarily.

Texas and Texas A & M get cherry picked by Oklahoma a great deal; yes. But, a state the size of Texas with supposedly the best H.S. football in the country should provide a plethora of talent. If that's the case as you eluded to: "how come these two haven't shown it more on the field"?

As much talent or more possibly comes out of Florida. A kid might be playing in a H.S. stadium with those segment bleachers on the visitors side. And only maybe two or three at that. But, stadiums like that with far less people following produces just as much talent.

In short, when you look at their big time recruits who came from Texas H.S. football do they really deserve the star rating they get? Or is it because they are a stronger/faster/athletic kid from Texas so they must be among the best in the nation? Just asking! Not an indictment on all the great players who annually come out of Texas.
But, much like the SEC, Texas H.S. Football gets way over-hyped and over-blown! Very good - yes! No doubt. Just not what it's made out to be. Great pageantry. Traditions.

Prior to Vince Young getting there and helping Texas win it in 2005. It had been 1970 since Texas had won it. Telling stat because some of the other schools hadn't come around to being decent to good in football - so Texas got the pick of the litter for a long time along with Oklahoma.
