Alternate idea to term limits that might yield same results

Sep 24, 2020, 7:36 PM

Pay congressmen and senators $1 million per year...,

But they are not allowed any other source of income while in office and their finances are audited each year.

Pros/cons?

Or a better idea! Give these “career politicians” 100k per year, no more and no less (50% more than police officers and 29% more than minimum wage.) Only allow 2 year terms (because being a politician wasn’t meant to be a career). When the term is up, that individual will get out, get a job, pay taxes, pay insurance (with no reoccurring pension) and contribute to society Just like everyone else. You’d be surprised how much reoccurring pension goes to politicians and their retired secretaries after terms are up.

Sure, I guess (seems a little high). The problem we've got ourselves in is that in order to put these restrictions on Congress, Congress has to put them on themselves. So we're screwed there.
