I can promise you, USuC is not going to get much better at all. I told many of you that the past few seasons but just about everyone one of you thought 9-10 games was realistic. Here we go again...same song, different verse.

I guess your trying to be funny but that's what most Coots believe. Just like you won something because Bama did. If you knew how stupid remarks like that make you look. You wouldn't say stuff like that.

Somebody doesn't seem to realize they still have a majority of ACC opponents with winning records against USuck! They also never acknowledge one championship from 1969 to show for their ACC membership. USC also does recognize their divisional championship in the SEC, but the OBC failed to leave much of a lasting legacy beyond beating the Tigers.
Go Tigers!

And if we had their schedule, we'd have 12 wins.

Their schedule is full of fluff, too.
I just looked at it. Sorry, but away games at Vandy and Mississippi St. don't scare me. Tennessee looks like the best team other than us on their schedule and they get them at home. I guess Jawja will be decent, but 9 or 10 wins from them isn't overly impressive.
What part of THEIR schedule is suppose to have me mesmerized?

Understanding the Coot mentality
Jan 27, 2016, 4:48 PM
|
|
I live in Columbia & work among Gamecock fans, so I think I have a pretty good understanding of their worldview. We all know that they're absolutely convinced of their superiority over Clemson, in spite of the series record, in spite of their own miserable history. Their case wasn't so hard to make when they were winning 5 in a row, but now that they've reverted back to historical form, they've had to dig deeper & reach further to justify this unshakable belief. Whatever they're saying on this day or that, it basically comes down to this: "Our team may suck but we're still better than you because SEC>ACC. We're in the big boys' club & you're not, nah-nah-nanny-nah-nah". And then this, of course: "We're better than you because Bama". (It's one thing to root for Alabama against Clemson - that's just rivalry & I fully understand why they wouldn't want us to win a national title - but of late it's been absolutely comical how they've grafted onto Alabama. They're practically beaming with Crimson Tide pride these days!)
In their view, of which I've heard countless iterations, Clemson doesn't even qualify as a big-time program. Back in November a co-worker asked me if I wasn't worried that Dabo would leave Clemson for a better job, because, you know, Clemson plays in a pee-wee league & will always be just a stepping-stone to the real big-time.
Though easily refuted, this worldview unfortunately gets plenty of reinforcement in the media. Like the Wall Street Journal article from 2014 which purported to rank all the football programs in the FBS based on some conjured-up monetary value assigned to each - SC's football program was given a value ALMOST TWICE that of Clemson. Or the New York Times article from 2014 which created a map designating each football program's fan-base's home territory, in which almost the entire state of SC (including Greenville, Anderson & Spartanburg counties) was colored Gamecock garnet, while Clemson was reduced practically to the status of a directional school, with only Oconee & Pickens counties shown as Tiger territory. Or just the manner in which Clemson always draws such snark from the media any time we play on the big stage, which never happens on those rare occasions when SC has a decent team. Believe it or not, SC is actually perceived nationally as being a better program then Clemson. To this problem there is but one remedy - keep beating them.
