Longest I have gone without in the last 25 years is 2 months in a row. There were some years though where for the combined year I maybe took off 3 or 4 days per month.

But then me and my buddy John stole a six pack of Budweiser from a stack of cases that his dad had on the porch getting ready for a party they were having, then we jumped on our bikes and rode down to the creek behind his house and drank it. Pretty much been drinking ever since.

a while, usually a month or two at a time. I don't get that "gotta have a drink" feeling, I'm more of a habit guy. I can fall into the habit of daily beers/wines after work instead of doing something constructive. Too many days like that and I decide to rein it in.

I know we joke around on here all the time, but for serious, I never have that "oh man, I have to have a beer or drink" feeling. I typically am just enjoying a city and not having kids around when I get the most hammered. I enjoy the social aspect of it and visiting shady parts of cities in search of dive bars.
If I ever get that feeling or find myself sitting at a bar alone, I will kick it for a long while as I just dont want anything controlling my life like that at any point in my life.

Cannot remember the last day I didn't have either a beer, wine or liquor. I normally have one of the above each night when I get home from work. I maybe went 2 days over Christmas cause Red's family is dry.

I did it for Lent my senior year at Clemson.
I was a HEAVY drinker in college. like getting blackout drunk 4+ nights a week and moderately buzzed 2 more.

Thursdays I may have a couple. sometimes I don't at all.

I went for weeks at a time when my mom and dad were going through cancer and I was spending weeks at a time with them.
Now I am usually having drinks Thursday, Fri, Sat....typically not Sunday.
Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed I try to abstain, but if on the road, I will drink and then take off Thursday. Like I am in St Louis tomorrow night, so I will hit the bars. Then I wont drink on Thursday.
Really, just depends on how my body feels and if its effecting my running as well.

puke at 4AM, the night of the CLemson - Carolina game, I decided I needed to dial it back a notch. I decided to quit drinking for a year. And permanently quit drinking liquor (except when offered shots, or on a cruise).
That was about 12 years ago. My thinking was, I wouldn't want my son to wake up and find me like that one night. I rarely ever puked, but sure made a mess that night. A buddy came over after we had already been drinking all day, and brought a bottle of Maker's Mark so we could watch Oklahoma-Oklahoma St. BTW, puke smells nasty.
