If Dabo goes, Morris better move in as the next HC.
Doubt he goes tho.

I should also say I don't want Dabo to leave and I don't think he wants to go anywhere. He's a heck off recruiter and I think he's proud of the team he's been able to build with us.

Dude you said the same thing in the thread about Morris getting an extension. There's nothing "family" about coaches, etc. They need to look for their best opportunities...hopefully he will decide Clemson is his best fit.

now my last question about dabo will be answered. dabo is the 3rd man in the last 70 years that came from alabama and gave every indication that clemson was EVERYTHING to him...let's see who is "all in". then i will be all in not just for clemson (that is 4-ever) but i'll never say "dabo, he's alright be he's no frank howard, he's no danny ford."

Then they got stomped by FSU in their bowl game, too. Of course, they did win our game again, which is huge for them, but it really isn't very important anymore for us. Beating them had become so routine, there really isn't much to that game, anymore. There are much bigger fish to fry, and we are frying them.

I think Dabo has a career home at Clemson unless Alabama comes calling after Saban leaves. No one would fault him for that one, but other than that, I think Clemson is home.

and I think you are right. He seems to be very happy to be here and from hearing him talk I could see him wanting to stay for as long as we'll have him. Like you said, obviously Bama is truly home but I think we've got our coach for the foreseeable future.

I honestly don't think Dabo would ever leave Clemson, even for Alabama. Mostly because he is a country boy that came from nothing and he really fits into the Clemson atmosphere.

Was wondering when A&M job would be announced. Glad the Morris deal is done, though I think it would be somewhat premature for him to offered the HC position this soon, alma mater or not.

This is the sign of a Successful Program
Dec 6, 2011, 10:09 AM
|
|
You want a program that breeds coaches rather than being a graveyard (Like USC)
Dabo will dance with aTm if they are interested, but that will be a negotiating tactic to get TDP to write a bigger check.
BUT........If Dabo goes, and "The Chad" doesn't get the HC gig, what makes you think Morris won't go with Dabo if the money is the same?....Chad is a Texas Guy
This is on TDP

While it is complimentary; remember Tommy Bowden

was on just about every list for an open position for half the time he was at Clemson. Under Bowden the program was not a failure, but I wouldn't put it in the successful category either - merely average.

Tommy still unemployed after 90 D-1 coaching changes. 90!!!
Dec 6, 2011, 4:48 PM
|
|
When Tommy "resigned" from Clemson with his $4M buyout, he said that he'd like to coach again but there have been 90 D-1 head coaching changes since then, and I haven't heard anybody even asking to interview him. Tommy used his old Arkansas AD buddy to bluff TDP into foolishly granting Tommy a buyout. It's hard for other ADs to sell the fans a perennially upper-mediocre coach who couldn't even win the weak ACC after a decade.

TAMU = worse job. Interview would only be pay-raise leverage
Dec 6, 2011, 4:54 PM

But TDP has plenty of leverage because TDP can just say, "That's fine, Dabo. If you leave I'll just promote Chad."
I hope TDP doesn't foolishly give Dabo a needless buyout like he did with Tommy Bowden.

Dabo's Offers
Dec 6, 2011, 10:29 AM
|
|
I expect Dabo will have many chances to go elsewhere in the future. He has the character many schools would be proud to have. His reaume' is thin right now, with little experience and not many wins overall, but he is a man who will succeed. I believe Dabo has much unfinished business at Clemson, and I believe he will stay all in until the job is done. He may get lured away at some point, though. Get used to him being a candidate. Having a coach that others want is a great thing. I don't see the coots having anybody come calling for the old sac, nor have any of their other coaches been in high demand after being there. Kinda says something!

Bull feathers......All is not the same With Bowden
Dec 6, 2011, 11:34 AM
|
|
Tommy Bowden did not win the ACC in his first 3 years as head coach. When ACC Divisional Play began, we never made the ACCCG.....
Tommy Bowden was extended for all of the wrong reasons and keeping Dabo would be for all of the correct reasons...
This is what happens when we start playing big boy football. People want a piece of your action.

Dabo is not going to Texas A&M. He isn't going to Southern Cal. Not to Houston, or any other freaking school that is desperately looking for a coach. Why on Earth would he leave a program that he loves and bleeds for, in a conference he has just shown he can win--and probably win repeatedly, considering he just did it with the "not expected to do much" year of players? Tajh will have two more years, and then Chad Kelly will have three, so he has a stable QB situation to get 5 years of possible national championship contention here. USC is soon going to lose a couple of scholarships on probation, Miami is about to have its football team put in a kill jar, and UNC is about to lose yet more scholarships, which means Clemson's recruiting is going to get even better here. My prediction: Steve Spurrier has a massive heart attack on the golf course and USC finds themselves once again in turmoil as they look for a new has-been to come coach.

Dabo is a winner, not a quitter. He is not a man who can easily hide his emotions and I saw all I needed to see after the ACCCG. His almost tearful comments after the game reflected his love for CLEMSON, his players, his staff and all of the real orange blooded Clemson fans. I think he is "ALL IN" and will hang around and finish what he started.

That's a disappointment to the "gang of negativity" that were whining on here a few weeks ago.
