The best of friends can attend each others weddings.
But even the best of best of friends can't attend each others funeral.

That's a good point about Jacoby Ford

Aug 24, 2006, 11:36 AM

Coaches have mentioned more than a couple times that Ford doesn't just have straight ahead speed, but he has "wiggle" as well.

Players like Peter Warrick and Torry Holt didn't touch us mainly on long bombs. The majority of their large gains came on returns or short passes that they turned into touchdowns by evasive running in conjunction with great speed.

Didn't know about the 1-point offensive safety. See??? Tigernet is a bastion of higher education!

The definition of awesome!

Since the clock starts after change of posession, it might

mean less TV breaks, as they won't cut to a commericial after possession changes because they might miss some action.

1-point safety

Aug 24, 2006, 11:59 AM

I seem to remember a 1-point safety being scored in a very strange game (not one we were in) recently--say less than 5 years ago. Anyone else remember this? It was a call that no one had ever heard of and it generated a lot of fuss. Was it a 1-point safety or some other oddball scoring rule?

We should have been credited with a 1 point safety vs.

Aug 24, 2006, 12:15 PM [ in reply to 1-point safety ]

Georgia the last time we played in Athens. We threw a pick on the goal line ... the Georgia linebacker (I think) was moving laterally but OUTSIDE the goal line - he stepped into the enzone (fully) then was tackled. I was screaming "Safety, Safety" ... they called it a touchback.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that would have been a 2 pointer

Aug 24, 2006, 12:16 PM

1 point safety is only on extra point attempts.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not according to the article above.

Aug 24, 2006, 12:36 PM

I really have no idea personally.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

“The best moment was on draft day when (N.C. State’s Mario Williams, Manny Lawson and John McCargo) all got picked in the first round,” said Dustin Fry. “That was kind of nice knowing we ran for 254 yards against three first-round defensive linemen.”

Only on extra points

Aug 24, 2006, 1:05 PM

If the defense on an extra point somehow gets the ball or blocks the kick in the field of play and goes back into the endzone and gets tackled it is a 1 pt saftey.

Happend 2 years ago when Texas played Texas A&M

trust me, it's only on extra points...

Aug 24, 2006, 1:06 PM [ in reply to not according to the article above. ]
