How did Lester Brown get the nickname Rubber Duck?

Lester Brown's mother worked at Woodland Park Elementary School on the old Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in 1978 and he visited his mother at the school when I was in 8th grade. I wrote for the school paper and interviewed Lester Brown for an article.
Answer: He got the name Rubber Duck because he liked to jump over the top of the pile on the goal line when going for a TD. [At least that's what I remember and wrote in my story for the school paper.]

You are right to an extent. He did like to jump over piles, but it always seemed he would manage to float over the guys in the pile like a duck on water. Also he had this strange ability to make it impossible to get a clean hit on first contact and would bounce away, find a seam and go for more yardage.
