one evening early in the season, I made what many thought a foolish bar bet with a couple of tarheel acquaintances of mine.....I was boastfully telling some friends that that Clemson defense might be the best in Clemson history....the tarholes who were listening close by scoffed and I bet them the Tigers would beat the 'holes by 30---even though they were playing in chapelhole (there've been rumors in the past that occasionally visiting sports teams might find unfriendly officials when playing unc on their home court/field)......those were two tasty Bud Lights I enjoyed later on in the season!!!

I think that was (and still is) the best defense Clemson ever put on the field.

I don't remember every game but I do remember big blowouts and blanking SCar 40 something to ZIP! Didn't we still have a "Clemsoning" game that year, too? Don't remember exactly but it seems like we lost to a Wake or Duke.

Best Clemson D I ever have seen

Hands down. They were the best athletes on the team and it wasnt close. 88 to 90 was absurd defensively. Our LBs looked like tailbacks with nasty all over them. There were hitters all over that D and crazy speed.
