It cost Clowney at least $1million to play one more year

for USuC. The difference between the contracts for Eric Fisher (#1 pick) and Luke Joeckel (#2 pick), both offensive tackles, was $1 million.
Clowney has at least given up the top spot. The more he drops, the more it cost him to be in Columbia.
Spurrier definitely didn't do him any favors by coddling him.

Clowney will still be the #1 DE pick, his contract is as max as it will be.
And what did you expect him to do last year? Go to a training camp for a year...lol.

Just plain wrong

1. Clowney would not have gone first overall if he had sat out 2. Clowney is still going to go first overall 3. As someone has already pointed out, that is a better reflection of the difference between the number 1 OT and number 2 OT, not the number 1 and number 2 overall draft picks.

1. Playing somewhere else, he would not have been as likely to get worse. 2. Maybe. But I doubt it. 3. The #1 and #2 overall picks are listed. Both happen to be OT.

Yeah, and how much do you think Tajh lost by staying, when he was definitely getting drafted higher last year?

A lot because there are a lot more QBs in this years draft

He could have been the number 1 QB over EJ Manuel (indication of how weak the QB class was last year). This year hes got more competition.
Clowney has always been the top DE and a top 5 pick so it never really matter which class he came out of
