Just an Observation

Jan 2, 2018, 1:27 AM

First off, great year. I'm proud of our Tigers win or lose. I'm especially proud that they never gave up in this game, fought until the end.

My observation is our play calling as many have pointed out in earlier posts. If someone would look at every time we gained 7 to 9 yards on first down running the ball, we would always, and i mean always throw it on second down. Why? I realize that is a good down and distance to throw the ball to catch a defense off guard, but we can't be THAT predictable and do it all the time. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes . . .

you're right. And it's also a good opportunity ( as you imply) to get that first down and then some with a run that might not be expected.

The play calling is far more formulaic than it ought to be. We routinely waste downs and don't sequence our plays well.

And I'm not just talking about tonight's game, this has been the case all year long.

Thank God for "observations". I'm sure there will be plenty more rolling in, in the Immediate future.
