Johnny Dawkins at UCF.

Mar 24, 2019, 6:02 PM

They brought him there for 1.1 million per year. Brad gets 2.5 million. People always ask who we can get etc etc. We probably could have had Dawkins.

Sounds good to me.

Mar 24, 2019, 6:05 PM

I'm willing to try just about anyone at this point.

[No, not really. But it made me feel better to say that.]

Too late now, but he was out there and many on here said we should try and get him while he was an assistant.

We also would have had his son who bust 3's and is a great player.

Dawkins would never have taken a job at an ACC school where he had to face Duke every year.

Never know. Maybe getting the extra million and a half per year would have convinced him.

Would be a great hire. Done a solid job at Stanford and has resurrected UCF.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He was pretty bad at Stanford. I think it's hard to argue

Mar 24, 2019, 7:10 PM

that he did anything but run a really solid program into the ground. They went from making the tournament 13/14 years prior to his arrival to just 1/8. They also finished at or below .500 in the Pac 10/12 in 6 of 8 years under Dawkins after having finished no worse than 10-8 in the league in 15 straight seasons before him.

Don’t bother posting facts.

Mar 24, 2019, 7:30 PM

Most of the people here only care about who is successful right now, not their entire body of work. They are probably the same ones who thought Tommy Bowden was the best coach ever when we hired him from Tulane.

At least TB had potential when we hired him

Mar 24, 2019, 8:00 PM

Most of these guys that everyone wants to hire right now have long tracks records of mediocre (or worse) results. I would take a young, fairly unproven coach with potential over a known commodity that's proven over 10-20 years that they are mediocre.

Don't ruin my thread with facts. I want to be able to complain freely with impractical solutions without being called on them. Thanks. As you were.

If Brownell had won two NITs and one Sweet 16 appearance over 8 years some of you guys would be lobbying for a statue outside Littlejohn ??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He made 1 NCAAT in 8 years at Stanford and had

Mar 24, 2019, 7:04 PM

a 45% winning percentage in the Pac 10/12. This is a Stanford program that had made the tournament in 13 of the previous 14 years before Dawkins took over.

Why do we want him?

I will take any Coach K protege.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I’d rather have Wofford’s coach.

And that isn’t saying much.
