John Johnson and UGA

For all you old guys like me you'll remember how John Johnson shocked UGA when he signed with us at the last minute - will never forget how disappointed/upset Vince Dooley was about that - will also never forget how JJ was at the center of our defense when they swarmed all over Georgia's quarterback in 1987 and planted him for a safety in the west endzone of DV - then we went on to beat Georgia on a last second Treadwell field goal

The silver britches....

are a UGa tradition dating back before the 1960's. When Vince Dooley arrived (in 1964 I believe), in addition to changing the helmet to red with the elongated "G", he replaced the silver britches with white pants because he didn't like a certain chant by opposing fans that rhymed with silver britches. Dooley reintroduced the silver britches in 1981. The red pants were only worn occasionally for select road games.

We beat them 23-10 in 1988 and Dooley said they would never wear those pants again.

The pants ended up in Lincoln County; home of Garrison Hearst. Just a coincidence.
