January 1, 2017 is on a Sunday. When are college playoffs?

This past year it was New Year's Eve which had poor ratings because, HELLO, it's on New Year's Eve. Traditionally Rose bowl and other big bowls are on New Year's Day. Does NFL move games to New Year's Eve, Saturday? Do you have the semifinal college football on New Year's Eve again?
They got to figure this thing out. This year not so great.

My option Each year have one playoff game starting at 5pm the other starting at 9pm on January 2nd and play the other 3 big bowls on New Year's Day. The playoffs should use the other bowl game to build up the excitement. Not have playoffs before the other big bowl games.

Saturday December 31st, 2016. The chair of the CFP said today they would not be moving the playoffs from the 31st. He said the rating were down due to the blow out games.

He is wrong. Ratings down due people still at work and others going to parties.

I have no idea if he's wrong, but that is what he said today at a news conference. I would think he would have the data to back up his statement, because ratings are money for them.
