Bentley

Jun 30, 2017, 8:27 AM

A FULL year older than Hurts. So much for that "still supposed to be in high school myth"

I wouldn't be surprised if daddy held him back in elementary school so when he got to Byrnes high he'd be older and bigger

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The claim has always been that Dad held him back

Jun 30, 2017, 8:56 AM

to separate him from his brother. Could be the truth, however, coming from a family where a parent decided to hold one of a set a twins back to separate them, you have to be borderline passing/failing for that to happen. Who knows, with the pull Bentley had in Spartanburg ,he "could" have actually been passing and held back.

is the typical way to hold a kid back to gain an advantage in sports...

I live around Spartanburg and I believe he was held back his 8th grade year so he would be bigger once he started playing high school ball. Point is he was as old as most college freshmen last year.

Tv just wanted something to gab about

His team is also a full light year away from Hurts' team in terms of talent and potential .

Thanks for the ammo.

It's done a lot and for a long time

Jun 30, 2017, 9:12 AM

It's how Willie Varner had 20 year olds at Woodruff all those years ago.

Any parent can request that their child be held back in ES
You don't have to have Bentley pull.
My neighbor's kid doubled up on 2nd grade because she was a lot smaller than the other kids.

No I'm not a Coot, they've got enough issues to make fun of without making #### up.

No one made anything up

Jun 30, 2017, 9:18 AM

He was held back, he wasn't supposed to be a high school senior last year,he is older than Hurts at Bama and the "official" excuse for holding him back was to separate him from his brother,so they wouldn't be competing for the starting job in high school. Take a reading comprehension class,it'll help you out in life !

I can read just fine

Jun 30, 2017, 9:23 AM

"Who knows, with the pull Bentley had in Spartanburg ,he "could" have actually been passing and held back."

Or did I dream I read that?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Everybody knows daddy bentley did this on the regular

Jun 30, 2017, 9:14 AM

he'd talk parents into holding kids back a year so they'd be more physically mature.

Bentley is not that much younger than our guys

Jun 30, 2017, 9:36 AM

If younger at all

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jake was held back in 6th grade along with Mason Streeter

Jun 30, 2017, 10:32 AM

Streeter transferred from Byrnes to Boiling Springs and is a Coot baseball commit.
