Jaelyn Lay at the five star challenge

Jun 28, 2018, 8:31 PM

From Mike Farrell of Rivals:

"Tight end Jaelyn Lay is making a case for the top tight end in the country. It’s not a great year at the position and he has the size and moves well enough to take that next step in the rankings, at least in my opinion. Clemson fans will be excited about this kid."

Also " Offensive lineman Chris Akporghene and tight end Jaelyn Lay could be the two most physically impressive kids at the event and wide receiver Elijah Higgins is the most college ready wide receiver in the bunch. "

He's a beast. I think the biggest knock on him was that he wasn't a natural pass catcher, but it seems like something he's been working hard on and that he's been making big strides. He'll definitely have a blue-chip ranking soon which should calm some people down for maybe an hour.

This young man is going to be an awesome TE, he can catch well, and has good size.

I feel like I've seen that catch before...may have been #16 is some little game with a team from Alabama.

Short of it being

For the winning touchdown, you can't end a career with a better catch. That play means as much in Tiger lore as Clark's 'The Catch' means to the 49ers history.

Once he gets more fluid in his routes, the kid is gonna be tearing defenses up. Sorta wish he played at a better school. Not sure how good the coaching is where he plays.

It’s sort of amazing how fluid the star rankings seem to be.***
