and just that quick, our yaller lab Jack was gone.

9 yrs old, as healthy a lab as you'll ever see. Till today. Briefly, fine Sat night, sick and puny Sun am, Emergency Vet visit bunch o tests and xrays, no result, our vet 8 am sharp today, yada,yada, put him down at 4:30 today. Septic. Severe decline. No known cause- pierced intestine, burst abscess, something.
This was our licensed therapy dog, visited local nursing home w/Mrs No every Sunday, I've post about before.
Mr Socialite, never met a stranger. They're all sad, but this one is a shocker. Had older dogs go without presenting serious issues, but they weren't as healthy as Jack. RIP, Jack.
First time in decades, and except for a month, first time in over 30 yrs we don't have a Big Dog-lab or golden. Still have our lil shelter dog and Buster, inherited from SIL small dog. But big dogs rule.
