Bama = best team ever, Tua = Heisman material

Jan 16, 2019, 10:28 AM

Really getting sick of the "expert" pundits. Before the CFP the narrative was that this Bama team is probably the best EVER and Tua, having missed out on the 2018 Heisman, was well on his way to being the most likely winner in 2019.

Now that Clemson wiped the floor with Bama the narrative has changed. Apparently, this Bama team was not the best of all time because "everyone" knew Bama's defense had issues. Clemson may have won the game but Bama had the best players and just didn't want the natty as much as Clemson.

And, everyone has been talking about if TL could be drafted he'd take the #1 draft slot. Well, if that's the case why wasn't he at least invited to the Heisman ceremony?

These expert pundits are no better than a typical college football fan. It's like they are just now catching up to the rest of us.

Yeah I agree. All that blather then we stomp them. Pretty much just hear crickets. But thats ok because it is mostly rat poison anyway

We won't have to listen to that for at least a couple years.***

One of the major benefits of destroying Bama is that the "SEC! SEC! SEC!" crowd will #### for at least a few years. With Texas killing UGA and USC laying an egg against UVA (UVA! LOL!), that argument for SEC dominance has been proven to be false.

The new narrative will be that Clemson is the dominant force in college football. I don't much care for that personally. Every hot take is click bait. When the truth of the matter is that anyone can win and anyone can lose every time a game is played.

But, I, for one, am pleased to be going into the 2019 season and not have to listen to everyone crown Bama before the first game is played.

Already started the propaganda macheene

Uga didn't want to be there
Bama beat themselves

Per SOP

ESPN will make sure 10 SEC teams are in the 1st AP poll and 5 in the top 10. This ensures that every SEC team will have played at least 3 ranked teams at some point and they can push the SEC SOS agenda.

In the end Bama will be on top and the Disney folks will try to argue whoever is 2nd into the cfp.

I wouldn't bet on that !!!

The media, especially ESecPN, will continue to pump the $EC and Alabama like a $5.00 prostitute on a Friday night.

The Bama blather is irritating--true.

But it makes it that much better every time we beat them to win national titles!

True, if we ever beat them but now the narrative is their staff tunover, injuries, were worn down from the tough SEC season. These bozos in media act like Bama score our 44 points for us and we just were lucky enough to be there

I wish I had a dollar for every time somebody uttered a phrase similar to "just give Bama the trophy' during this past season.

No doubt. In some cases they even gave bettors their money as though it had already happened! This was one of my favorite side stories coming out of the game!

Re: Bama = best team ever, Tua = Heisman material

Let us not forget these are the same people who rank our teams and recruits. If we were still operating under the old bowl system, we would not have been playing for the national championship in 2016 or this year. The "talking point" for this year and, for most years, the so-called experts was how great was this Alabama team and Tua was the ordained winner of the Heisman Trophy after the 2019 season. I have long professed perception plays the most important role in the athletic arena. For example, all ACC teams were thought to be down this year so Clemson, going undefeated, had an easy path and their undefeated record was due to playing in a weak conference. Therefore, Clemson would get crushed by most teams in the mighty SEC and the top teams in the other Power 5 conferences.

Fortunately, there are a few pundits who look beneath the headlines and see an entirely different team than the vast majority. Most of us probably enjoy a Clemson bias but would not argue with an honest assessment of our team.

I would not be surprised if we were informed the Crow is now an endangered specie.

Heisman is based on 2 factors: hype and stats.

Trevor had some hype coming into this season around the Clemson community but even half us were still calling for KB as our starter 3 weeks into the season.

Not starting until Week 4 and not playing in the 4th quarter of most games hurt his stats.

Trevor is coming into 2019 with a lot of hype so as long as he puts up stats and wins games he should have a good chance.

Let them spout garbage all they want. The trophy is in Clemson.

I actually had a Bama fan tell me yesterday that they should’ve put Hurts in and they should’ve ran the ball more. I ignored the Hurts comment because we all saw what happened to him that drive they did put them in. Me, being a pretty easy going fan, agreed with him about running the ball more but pointed out that they could not run it in the red zone. Of course being an arrogant Bama fan he disagreed. I also told him that even if they would’ve ran the football a lot more it would not have changed the ultimate outcome of the game. Of course he disagreed and blamed what many regard as the best coach in CFB history for the loss.

Here’s the thing: Maybe they could’ve scored a few more points with better play calling but we could’ve easily hung 50+ on them if we needed to. We let out of the gas in the fourth. They were not going to outscore us. Their defense got burnt to a crisp. Their offensive play calling had nothing to do with the fact that their defense was overmatched.

group of coordinators and assistants Saban has ever had. That they were terrible all year.

It's funny how fast things can go from "Best ever" to "terrible coaching all year."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That sure wasn't what they were saying...

Jan 16, 2019, 1:11 PM

at the beginning of the year.

They were talking about how great Saban is at identifying quality assistant coaches so there is no let down from year to year.

Funny how an old fashioned a$$ whippin' changes the narrative.
