I’ve been touching up on my Python skillz

Apr 7, 2020, 11:37 PM

Mostly trying to get my SQL skills back to master level. Tableau as well.

Also been catching up my reading of Kant.

SQL is my go to, and used SSRS for years. Minor crystal reporting for one customer. Python loads with sql lite db, and pretty easy to switch up to postgres or mysql. Surely MSSQL as well, but I'm sticking to open source.

Wanted to check out tableau, so if you find some good resource, shoot it my way.

Python stuff I started watching Mosh vids, then got into wanting web app stuff more applicable to what I'd use, and found a great set of videos from Dennis Ivy on YouTube. You can extend python into graphq similar to tableau from what I've seen also. Not quite there yet myself

Good to know about extending python on Tableau. As far as learning it, I bought an online course to teach myself. It seems to be much more for reporting than for actual data analysis. But I’ve just started scratching the surface, so there could be a lot more there that I don’t know about yet. I’ll make a note to send you to the training videos I’ve been watching.

I mainly use MySQL, poatgres, & SQL Management Server when I access databases. Then use ACL to do the actual analysis part of it. I didn’t realize how far out of sorts I was until I started to add in subsequences to the FROM statements & joins inside of other joins. It’s all calling back to me now but I had forgotten all about this stuff.

Python I learned in school, but it was all mathematics courses where I learned it. So I can set variables & solve a complicated matrix, but I struggle to write anything of actual use for anyone else with it.

Koalas aren't bears. Koalas are marsupials like Kangaroos and Wombats. Wombats are the only animals with poop that comes out in cubes. That was day before yesterday that I learned those important life changing facts.

Someone has watched all of Tiger King as well

But has moved on to Secrets of the Zoo or other shows on Animal Planet. Kudos to you good sir!

Do you think that square poop hurts their heinuses when they go? Asking for a friend.

And all this time I’ve been calling them cubeshitters. The more you know...

Wombats are cubeshitters. Thanks for the info! I’m sure to win trivia 1 day with this bit of random knowledge.

I've been learning to recondition Soviet-era PFM-1 Toe Popper landmines, both the 3 inch and the 4.5 inch. It's a really touchy process, but it'll be totally worth it when the grid fails, the economy collapses, and society descends into complete anarchy here in the next couple of weeks.

Getting spoiled driving to work

My 27 miles each way commute is so pleasant right now. Quite enjoyable. When things get back to normal, and traffic is normal again, I will be full-on road raging.
