is it me or are we

attacking the paint a ton more during this tourney? Maybe the stats dont say this but it seems like we are shooting a ton more layups these past 2 games.

I suspect KU will clamp down on this.

just make sure you tithe. We need more linebackers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My theory on that is that we are...

Mar 19, 2018, 1:25 PM

trying to go inside to loosen it up so our guys can bust 3's. Also, I think were trying to draw some fouls on their big men.

My thoughts

Mar 19, 2018, 1:26 PM

When I was 12 I spent the better part of my summer locked in a heated debate with the other neighborhood kids over which wrestling finishing maneuver was the deadliest. I was adamant that it was the DDT, but most of my friends disagreed. I had coherent arguments against all of the most common competitors:

Figure Four Leg Lock? I could simply roll over onto my stomach and reverse the pressure, which would then administer excruciating pain to the moves originator.

Macho Man’s Elbow Drop and Hulk Hogan’s Leg Drop? Both admittedly deadly, but required equally tiresome and effective setup moves. The only way to prevent someone from rolling out of the way and causing disastrous self-inflicted injury from your misfire is to adequately incapacitate the opponent ahead of time. How can a finisher truly be the deadliest if an argument can be made that a Hulk Hogan Big Boot as you careen off the ring ropes is an equally important part of the equation - if not more so.

Scorpion Death Lock or Sharpshooter? Tough ones for sure. My best argument against them was that my sheer upper body strength would allow me to power up enough to prevent you from exerting enough leverage to force me to quit.

Tombstone Piledriver? I don’t care if the Undertaker is a deadman, alive, or something in between - but I maintain to this day that, once you’ve been lifted into position, a well placed bite to the #### would stop that move in its tracks.

My DDT argument was simple. Kill the head and the body will follow. No setup required - even if I admit the short arm clothesline was a frighteningly effective precursor. It wasn’t altogether necessary, for a quick, well placed DDT could be sprung from many positions, and while not the strongest knock out blow, would assuredly incapacitate your opponent for a 3 count - which was all that was necessary. The beauty of the move was its brutal efficiency.

We knew the obvious way to find an answer was for us to try all of the moves on each other and see which worked best. We quickly realized this wouldn’t work because none of us could be trusted to give an honest opinion on anyone else’s suggested best. After 2 months of sporadic back and forth, my friend John Paul had the brilliant idea to try them all on our halfwit friend Jeremy who lived a few streets over and have him tell us which hurt the most. We invited Jeremy over to John Paul’s house and, coerced with an offer of a shoe box full of generally worthless baseball cards - all of which were duplicates from our collections - Jeremy quickly agreed to the deal.

Now, I’m sure right now you’re waiting for me to tell you how the story ended. If I was right, wrong, or somewhere in between. But this isn’t that kind of story. Besides, if you're being honest with yourself, you already know.

And, they all lived crappily ever after.
