Forest Acres is still in Columbia.
Dude about 6 houses down from me moved from Shandon. The first 2-3 times I talked to him he must have said he lived in Shandon 6-7 times. About the third time he said it I'm like "where? Never heard of it. Ohhh...In Columbia. Yeah."
Nobody down here gives a chit about anywhere in Columbia.

You're in the clique if you're a member of Forest Lake Country Club and live in Forest Lake. New money goes to Northeast and Lexington. Only place with more expensive homes is King's Grant, which is the cream of the crop in Columbia. But Forest Lake is old school money.
Shandon is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Columbia and is severely overpriced. Houses are tiny, and 300K. But for location it is one of the closest decent neighborhoods to downtown. Most houses built in the 30s-50's. My dad grew up in Shandon, moved there from Wallerboro in 1942 when he was 3yo. It's become trendy with a younger crowd now and has been partially invaded by USC students.

I'd wager Jonesville (if it's in the Jones part of the state)> Johnsonville. Forest Acres > Mt. Pleasant, main difference being old money southerners vs new money yankees.
Seriously, no one works in Allendale. Place is an economic ghostland. Whole place works at SRS or doesn't work. Bennettsville has Carl's IGA at least.

Not as impressed with Mt. Pleasant these days. Was 20 years ago. And there are areas of Mt. Pleasant that are still local, but there is a wholesale takeover happening there.

You're just nuts. I can go a whole weekend and not drive my car, go to 5+ bars and probably twice as many restaurants. I'm 3 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean (10 walking), and 7 minutes from one of the oldest most historic cities in America. I'm 4 miles from two barrier islands with beaches and their own restaurants.
In Forest Acres, I'm 5 minutes from 2 Notch Rd, 15 min from Dentsville, and 10 min from an army base. Plus side is I can probably get crack/heroine/fentanyl easier.
I get that you like Columbia, but c'mon man.
