It is 2016, so I refuse to eat or go anywhere that has an issue with using a card to pay.

We ain't in Europe......even Aldi's takes plastic now. I don't buy gas from places you have to go in to pay, don't care how cheap it is.....it's a rule.

They've always taken cards. I probably eat there once a week or so since I live within a mile of it and I've never once gotten a complaint for using a card. A girl is at the register every single time... Never the owner. I've never had an unpleasant experience and they're extremely cheap

You do all the time. It's accounted for in the price. Allot of small businesses are concerned about raising prices. They are simply passing along the transaction fee charged for processing your payment.

On the other side, those who accept cash only are pocketing around 40? of the gross sales that otherwise go to fed, state, and city taxes.

In addition by declaring lesser sales, less insurance is paid , licensing fees and even commercial rent payments. It's tempting

I know a couple great classic places here in Fla that only take cash for some reason. One place I know only takes cash, but they have an ATM machine. It's really not that big of a deal. I will go to the all cash places if the food is good enough.

I think that the merchant gets charged like 6% for accepting payment with plastic? Might be a reason for wanting cash only.

I live in a small upstate town, and it's not unusual at all for family owned and operated restaurants to not accept cards. They operate on very tight profit margins, and the credit card companies charge a fee (don't know exactly but it's around 2-4%) everytime a card is swiped. So, after a visit or two, you kinda know ahead of time and plan your cash situation accordingly. Heck even Wade's in Spartanburg only started accepting cards a couple of years ago. That is one of the busiest and oldest restaurants in the area. And, many times, it's simply due to the owner being of advanced age and not wanting to fool with credit card companies (and the inherent costs) as they have always dealt in cash and don't want to go through the pain of change.

Plus, with CC transactions, you get and ACH 2-3 days later in a batch form. So your Money is late, an offen times if there are hundreds of charges on credit cards, it's not easy to and/or takes a lot of time to reconcile and make sure you got all 100 of those charges from Visa/Mc. Same day charges don't always show up together in a batch ACH, depending on which CC people use.
