It's official

Jan 8, 2016, 2:50 PM

Me and a couple friends are officially on the road to AZ. Just left out from Clemson, as you all know this is a 1,981 mile ride, longggg trip.. Glad everybody got lisence in this car. We gotta rental btw, still debating on making the whole trip without getting a hotel, or just crash in the car at a rest stop... Four 20 year old guys, so who knows what will happen! Just ask that you all send quick prayer up to the man above for a safe trip! Anyway, Go Tigers and to my fellow brothers/sisters that's making the trip as well, we will CU in AZ!!!

did that same trip for spring break at Clemson. Watch out for Statie's in Texas. When they say, "Don't Mess with Texas" they mean it. Got pulled over twice in that state, and we weren't even speeding.

Lets hope that doesn't happen lol.. All signs are pointing to drive as far as we can and just get a room somewhere in Texas. We came up with shifts, so the first driver will drive for the first 6 hours and so on. Next driver will do the same, only 2 can drink right now and that's me and the other guy in the back seat haha. Thanks for all the well wishes guys, I'll keep y'all updated.

When I was in school at UTI in Phoenix, I would make that trip by myself, and the only stops were for gas. But that was back when BI-62s were plentiful. For you that don't know BI-62s, they were like the Adderall, but 3 times more stay power than a 20 mg adderall. The interstate speed then was 75 most of the way. Had cruise set on 85 mph running the Bel radar detector, and I would do that trip by my self either way in 26/27 hours depending on traffic. But you can't screw around when you stop for gas, get it and go. Pack food snacks and drinks in a cooler, and a quart jar with funnel to P P, and roll on.

a road trip was/is much better with 3 or 4 of your bestest

Jan 9, 2016, 11:19 AM

friends. swing through the mountains of nc and/or tenn ( whichever type of shine you prefer ) for the first stop. next, head on to ky for some fine bourbon . continue on to st.louis to the anheuser busch plant/store, and pick up a few brewski's. head on up the interstate (to bad it's not the old route 66), to colorado and buy some of the LEGAL mary jane in the local head shop, and then on down, over and across to AZ, where you can pick you up some psylocibin 'shrooms and a few tickets to the game. should be a great experience and a great clemson win to top it all off. be sfae and have a great,uh, TRIP !!!!!

I haven't been back to Phoenix since 1990, and I don't know about now but, Texas was a speeding ticket 5 mph over speed limit.

You will have these guys as friends forever . Made at least 3 10+ hour road trips while I was at Clemson. 25 years later, I travel a little better but am still meeting my road trip buddies out there.

When I was young and awesome, me and some buddies were sitting in our apartment in Tillman Place, watching the college world series. Someone was like "hey, should we drive to Omaha?". We all simultaneously said "yyyup" and jumped in the car.

Have an awesome time, you'll look back on this fondly when you're old and lame.

Good luck on the trip... be safe and have fun!

Make sure you verified your rental car contract's restrictions... I've rented a vehicle for a cross country trip before and found it hard to find a rental company that allowed unlimited miles *and* no territorial restrictions (i.e. unlimited miles but only in the southeast, or these states, etc.). Alamo was the company I had to use that was truly unlimited (continental US). That was about 10 years ago... things may be different now.

The companies can tell if you leave the area via GPS tracking and the charges go to something crazy like a dollar per mile. There are horror stories out there.

http://www.seattletimes.com/life/travel/rental-cars-watch-for-mileage-restrictions/

Don't assume "unlimited mileage" is without restrictions!!
