Calling losing so many close games as being "competitive" is

like a long fly ball in baseball that is just foul... It's just a loud strike, and the count is still 0-1.

Losing "x" amount of games by "x" amount of points is still losing the games.

Does it count for consistency if you do it many times over the course of a decade?

while the NET ranking of 35 was favorable, the team was a paltry 1 - 11 against quadrant one teams.

While many of those games were competitive and close losses, at the end of the day, there were still losses and that, for whatever reason, is not an acceptable result.

the Quadrant system. I think that is broken....

However, this is nothing more than the cumulative effect of 9 years of this. We cannot win games against the better ACC teams. 17 wins in 9 years over ACC teams with a winning conference record.

Postseason play in 5 of 9 years. Historically, Purnell was in the postseason 6 of 7 years and Ellis was 8 of 10 years.

Those are facts.

I’m having trouble seeing the comparison.

over 9 years of close losses, Brownell has been slowly wearing other players down in the league. Next year, we will see the payoff of those 9 years, as other players will finally be lulled to sleep.

we wore down the winning teams in the ACC so the league can't win a national championship? Take that Zion!
