It’s hard man. Second kid made it even that much worse. If I need a couple hours I just say so and do it. My wife does the same. We try not to be transactional about it. It’s been good for both of our mental health.

Sometimes I need to go fishing or hit a bucket of balls or get after work beers. Sometimes she needs to go get her nails done or go walk around target without our kids driving her nuts. We stopped apologizing and making each other feel bad about it.
