There was plenty of fan abuse. Did you ever go to one of the games during that era? It was brutal abuse.

Airraid - That is when ACC basketball was incredibly fun, or so I am told. The ACC Tournament tickets were some of the hardest to get in sports back in the 60's and 70's.....it was cultish.

Tates Locke actually had tryouts for the five most obnoxious students and he seated them behind the visitor's bench. BTW, there was a security cop present so apparently it wasn't as brutal as you've been told.

That's seems like an odd reason for McGuire to stop the series considering he had players that would punch out opposing coaches.....I think Lefty Driesel got punched out by one of McGuire's players.
