Great W for the basketball team

Got a chance to prove we are legit next week. No great teams but some pretty good teams who have been to the tourney recently. BB has done a great job developing depth over the first 3 games. I expect to win the tournament. Would anything less be a dissapointment?

At least 2-1, but winning should be expected since we are ranked. Good win. Sam Houston State could win their league and could upset a high major in the tourney. We need to get Eli healthy to really take off...

In their own league.
Front page article was right about the sluggishness in the first half, but any Clemson basketball fan who lived through the Shyatt day’s will always take a win.

I think that the first game played in Littlejohn was a game between our Tigers and Austin Peay of the same conference as tonight’s opponent. Back in those days the season began with the IPTAY tip off tournament and I believe that was the first game. It also featured a kid named Wise who was a pretty good player .... but sadly not that wise! I’m going from memory here. Anyone remember?

I think you’re right. I remember their cheer “ let’s go Peay”

It’s been fifty plus years but the Tigers May have lost that game. I remember Wise scored ten points in one of the games and lit it up in the next game. Vanderbilt May have been the game we lost. I saw enough in those two games to know that Wise was the real deal. He and Stan Rome were fun to watch. Such a long time ago .... and I was no kid then!

a very good Clemson team in the Iptay Tourney finals. Was there, and actually remember they had a guard named Charlie Fishback who had a big game. There were and are in the OVC.
Lamar, who we beat in the 1980 NCAA's was from the Southland, coached by Billy Tubbs

I was at CU from 68 to 72 and I distinctly remember playing Austin Pea in Littlejohn during that time and having a great time yelling "Let's Go Pea". Was probably in 68 or 69 as my best guess....

That would be the time that Wise played. I think he entered the 1975 draft
I can’t remember the GT game but I’m sure I was there. I had been out of school four years when Littlejohn opened.
Basketball in Fike was a different world! A game there was comparable to a game in DV as far as excitement and noise is concerned!

That makes sense. It’s in Tennessee I’m sure.

remember who we played. Skip Wise didn't play until about 74-75 season, and he only played the one year and made All-ACC first team, the first freshman to ever do that!
