It might not be good for the conference or us, but I think

Dec 6, 2013, 2:43 PM

it would be funny as heck if Duke upset FSU. Of course, there is about .01 percent of that actually happening.

It would be bad for our BCS chances

Dec 6, 2013, 2:44 PM

I am more concerned with that than getting to laugh at FSU

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I usually would be, but at this point I am tired of

Dec 6, 2013, 2:49 PM

rooting for someone because it helps us. The season is pretty much done. Let the chips fall where they may. We had our chances. Next. And, congrats to Coach Cutcliffe for getting Coach of the Year.

Also

Dec 6, 2013, 2:51 PM

if FSU loses then SEC wins another title.

Now that is something worth rooting against.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Or maybe Urban the Great can save us from the big, bad SEC

Dec 6, 2013, 2:57 PM

I am pretty sick of hearing the letters "SEC" and the word "coot." All coots I see around here I am putting on ignore. I don't care what they say or do until the 2014 football season. And, I don't really care that much about the ACC. I am a Clemson fan. Period.

I agree

Dec 6, 2013, 3:03 PM

and that is why it is all the more important for the SEC "monster" to be taken down a notch before the selection committee gets to start picking teams next year.
I would hate to have 1 loss next year and get left out of the playoff for a 2 loss SEC team because their schedule is "so tough".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you are saying Dook has a chance?

Dec 6, 2013, 2:46 PM

This will be a home game for FSU. The dukies have one sure virtue, they aren't stupid enough to be wittiness to a crime.

I think I said they have .01 % chance

Dec 6, 2013, 2:51 PM

Miracles do happen. You have to allow for that.

Well, you got me there.

Dec 6, 2013, 2:54 PM

Slight chance bearing on the fact that Cut might be the best coach that participates in that game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why do people give a crap about the conference?

Dec 6, 2013, 2:54 PM

I hate FSU and hope they lose, just like I hate UNC hoops and hope they always lose. Unlike chicken fans, I will take ZERO satisfaction in FSU winning a national championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Me too but it's a measure of lesser of two evils.

Dec 6, 2013, 2:57 PM

We need FSU to win the CCG to put Clemson in the OB. We need FSU to win the CCG so Clemson get BCSMNC money from FSU's participation in that game.

Can you go with me that far on this issue? It all comes down to economic$.

Re: Me too but it's a measure of lesser of two evils.

Dec 6, 2013, 2:59 PM

I can buy that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Darn, you had to bring economics into it

Dec 6, 2013, 3:00 PM [ in reply to Me too but it's a measure of lesser of two evils. ]

I will only go along with economics, if we are getting a truck load of $$$$ from them. Otherwise, it's not worth it.

So you don't give a crap about us winning the ACC Championship?

Or do you just enjoy the conference $$$ and don't care about anything else?

Re: Why do people give a crap about the conference?

Dec 6, 2013, 3:01 PM

I care what Clemson does. I don't give a crap about the other schools. FSU winning it all doesn't help us in any way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are so wrong...

Dec 6, 2013, 3:03 PM

FSU in the BCS bowl means we probably get into a BCS bowl...and therefore we all get more dollars. That is why you care about conference.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would really like to see the bottom line from our last BCS

Dec 6, 2013, 3:11 PM

bowl participation. After expenses and pieces of the pie are doled out, you would be surprised at how little money, if any, is left. There have been many times that Clemson went in the red by participating. Does anyone have that information from the last OB? Since I don't work there now, I am not privy to it.

Actually, it could hurt us

Dec 6, 2013, 3:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Why do people give a crap about the conference? ]

Recruiting against them is tough enough without adding 'current national champion' to their resume.

An FSU win would be good for Clemson.

I would think that would be important for a Clemson fan.

It might be any other season, but

Dec 6, 2013, 3:03 PM [ in reply to An FSU win would be good for Clemson. ]

like I said, we had our own chances without relying on other teams. I am just really tired of 'having' to pull for teams I don't like. I am burnt out with that SEC-ish attitude, at least for the rest of this season. Just saying...

I'm just saying...an FSU win=more money and exposure

Dec 6, 2013, 3:05 PM

for Clemson than if FSU lost on Saturday. There are tangible benefits.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it's only SECish if

Dec 6, 2013, 3:05 PM [ in reply to It might be any other season, but ]

you pull for them for the sole reason of them being in your conference. I think if it benefits your team directly then it makes sense.

If FSU plays OSU in the NC game then I could care less who wins from that point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, it would be hilarious if we dropped all the way down..

Dec 6, 2013, 3:10 PM

to the Belk bowl.

Dec 6, 2013, 3:39 PM

We are up against sec on recruits

If FSU wins a natty it breaks the sec lock

It can only help us in recruiting ,

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FSU winning would not hurt the SEC at all

Dec 6, 2013, 3:47 PM

It would take a heck of a lot more than one year to break that monster apart. But, it sure helps FSU against the rest of the schools they recruit against. Anyway, that's about all I have to say about it.
