Speed observation on ETN: Has he lost maybe a half a step?

Nov 27, 2018, 8:50 AM

Now Travis is still fast and he's a far better running back this year than he was last year. With that being said, is it just me or does he not look quite as fast as he looked last year? I know he's added some much needed bulk, which may have taken a little away from his burst (I know it did to Feaster).

I'm not suggesting it's anything to be concerned about because again he still pretty dog gone fast, but I'm just curious if anyone else has made a similar observation of him this year.

Must be just you and no nothing to be concerned about.

It might be that his running style has matured this

year. He's more patient and waits for a hole to develop and/or waits to follow his blockers. Last year he got the ball and was full speed ahead.

It's who he is running against.

If you compare the first half of last season to the second half you might ask if he lost a step mid-year.

When he went from playing in garbage time against either tired legs or backups he looked like he could never be caught. In the last 5 games I don't think he had a run over 30 yards. The difference was he was getting his legs tired early in games just like the defense so the playing field was more level.

I don't believe he has lost a step for the season but I am starting to wonder if he is going to pop any long runs in the postseason this year. I hope he rests up and gets rolling for the playoff!

Good observation. Hadn't really thought of it like that

but you make a lot of valid points.
