It can't be a safety because the momentum of the kick took it into the endzone.

So it would've been a touchback if it hadn't gone out of bounds (or had it not been ruled he stepped out of bounds) at the 2.

And going back in results in a safety, I was thinking he actually bobbled it back into the end zone. I did not think the momentum carried him in there.

That would not be a touchback in that instance since he made an effort outside the end zone and fumbled it into it.

Hence yes thought it might be reviewed hence I was asking this group.

Apparently jackleg below knows a lot though.

And, again to me, it appeared the ball bounced off him outside the end zone and the momentum of the kick took it into the end zone as it bounced off him. That would be a touchback unless (ad it was called on the field) it was ruled he was out of bounds or the bounce took the ball out of bounds before it entered the end zone.

But there wasn’t much chance for it to be a safety as the momentum of the ball from the kick is it what propelled it into the end zone.
