FYI I'm not a Bernie guy, just thought some might find this helpful.

wonder how he would fare in front of one of his death panels

Feb 20, 2020, 11:30 AM

He's like 100

He has a history of heart problems

He has no history of discernible income other than government assistance

Man I remember the death panel conspiracy during ACA

This is Bloomberg, not Bernie. But it does kinda sound like

death panels:

"Not only do we have a problem but we gotta sit here and say which things we're gonna do and which things we're not. No one wants to do that," he said. "If you show up with prostate cancer, you're 95-years-olds, we should say, 'Go and enjoy. Have nice– live a long life.' There's no cure and there's nothing we can do. If you're a young person, we should do something about it. Society’s not willing to do that, yet. So they're gonna bankrupt us."

Yeah and absolutely no plan

Feb 20, 2020, 11:53 AM

from any candidate does that.

Wasn't this all fixed with Obamacare. I mean that was

Feb 20, 2020, 11:51 AM [ in reply to wonder how he would fare in front of one of his death panels ]

supposed to drop premiums by $2500 and we'd get to keep our doctor.

Wait.....we passed the bill and found out what was in it. BS.

Re: Wasn't this all fixed with Obamacare. I mean that was

Well, it's either tweak ObamaCare or go full socialist.

Your call. Because this crap isn't working for most of us. Our family income was $80K+...and I'll admit we got into foreclosure and had to file bankruptcy this past year because of medical bills. A few years before that we lost everything we had in a medical software start-up because the guy running it - who had been a heavy in both GHS and Steadman Hawkins - turned out to be a flat-out crook. (Turns out those who do well in hospital administration tend to be crooks, go figure.)

Do you have anything even resembling an actual proposal of your own? Sneering at ObamaCare or Medicare For All is great, but what's your solution?

I am listening.

Go ahead with Medicare for all, or whatever you want to

Feb 20, 2020, 1:34 PM

call it. "Free" government healthcare for any and everyone who wants it. Have it 100% in house.
Government doctors, hospitals, etc. Non-payers will go there.

THEN leave the private healthcare 100% alone. EVERYONE gets medical care. 80% or more of people would opt for private. Costs would plummet. You, for example, with your income could afford private care with all the medicaid/care patients out of the market, letting it be free again to operate on its own. The poor would still get adequate care and the government would make sure of that.

How can a President run on "Medicare for All"?

Feb 20, 2020, 12:06 PM

Congress would have to do that, not a President.

I don't want to hear anything from a Presidential candidate about healthcare, except what he is going to recommend from Congress.

Tell me what you are going to do with the military, justices, and regulations.

You understand that the regulations and the appropriations for those things have to be voted on by Congress, too - right ??

It's a negative from me...

Feb 20, 2020, 12:09 PM

Probably because we are very healthy, and don't really have much in the way of out-of-pocket expenses usually.

That said, the fact that something would cost me money isn't a reason for me not to support something. I'm willing to sacrifice money if it's a good thing for the country. But I obviously have no idea how this would affect the country at large.

of the federal government? I always thought it was just that the federal government would just pay for all of it, but I don't follow it too closely.

The latter, with price controls, is the simplistic answer...***

It works for almost every other developed country in the world - at a lower total cost and with better overall results.

for the good of the country.

I have been looking into this quite a bit on my own. it seems to me that Medicare for all will save us money overall, cover way more people and with better overall results.

There may be some difficulties as we work our way through the transitions, but universal health care works for dozens of developed countries and with better overall results.

Prices increased due to Obamacare. Wipe the slate clean and start over.
