Unfortunately that means they are putting that crappy artificial turf back down. I wish they would at least put the newer style field turf down instead of going with the worn out eighties camper rug look.
Other than that it seems to be coming along nicely with warning hill firmly in place.

So it's not going to be grass anymore??? They won't do astroturf, if that's what you're thinking... Wouldn't it at least be field turf?

why are people so opposed to the artificial turf at Doug Kingsmore and not at Death Valley? Death Valley isn't used NEARLY as much as Doug Kingsmore is and it has artificial turf in the high-traffic areas. I suggest you people calm down until the work is done.

comparison between DK and DV. On a football field, there are 28 people (players and refs) making significant movement across the turf during each play. On a baseball field, there are only 16 people (defense + batter + base coaches + umps) on the field, but only 3-4 make significant movement during a given play.
Plus, I think the average footfall in football is more damaging to the turf than the average footfall in baseball, so that would be factored in.
Pretty neat study for a sports medicine type.
